Your appeal, including evidence (screenshots, etc): this ban to my knowledge was well over a year ago, the statement of me violating the rules repeatedly if I remember correctly I was told once about the name before this encounter. Went in without saving the new character name I did not agree with the admin approach to handling a very minor situation but we are all human and things happen and I lost my cool and maybe the admin had a bad day as well. anyway its well over a year now and I wish to appeal this ban. thanks for your time

And then you were later permabanned.

It looks like they were walking by you when they noticed your name and PM'd you. You missed or ignored the PM, and they body blocked you with their character to stop you from running off (inferred from the disarm happening at the same time as the toggle sleeping). I assume the conversation would have continued if you hadn't logged off like that, and it probably wouldn't have ended this way. It seemed like they were in no-nonsense-mode and you gave them nonsense. That doesn't mean what they did was justified, though. I don't think the punishment was proportional to the crime in this case, and I'm definitely in favor of getting this lifted.

For future reference and explanation:

• Admin sleeping a person when they're not responding to PMs is common. Sometimes players don't notice the message, don't know how to respond, or don't even realize that the message is directed towards them. However, it was quite an unusually short period of time in this situation, probably because they saw that you were still moving and weren't standing still to type.
• This ban was an extreme response, but otherwise successively harsher punishments for repeatedly breaking the rules is par for the course. If a staff member warns you for breaking the rules, please don't break them again.
• I say that because when you ARE unbanned, your character name shouldn't be "Harry Dresden" when you join the marines again :P
• Also please do try to remain respectful when talking to the staff, even when it's frustrating. Like you said, we're all humans and we all make mistakes. A little patience from both sides would have gone a long way in this situation, based on how quickly you logged out they were probably in the middle of typing a PM explaining it to you.

Do you understand the rule you broke, and how to avoid breaking it again? While you're at it, you should re-read the rules as there have been quite a few changes over the past year.

This seems like a pretty petty thing to argue about. Keep the attitude in check when staff are talking to you. If someone is contacting you, it's for a reason.
