Job ban appeal

Post by Patrick81291 » 26 Sep 2018, 11:32

Your Byond ID:
Patrick.Bisson

Character Name:
Patrick Bisson

Type Of Ban:
Job-ban (MP and CMP)

Admin who banned you:
El Defaultio (I think)

Total Ban Duration:
Permanent

Remaining Duration:
Permanent

What other servers do you play on?
None

Are you now or have you been banned on any servers? Which ones?
No, this is the first time I've got banned although there is probably a note/warning about me dragging an MP into maint as a MT. I'm not sure what I was going to do but I got distracted by a potential boarding party and hacked doors so I never reported the SSD MP and I should have.

Reason for ban (If you have a Permaban, it should be the EXACT MESSAGE YOU GET WHEN YOU LOGIN with the Error code that looks like this: X##XXX##. If you do not provide this EXACTLY you can't be unbanned):
It's a job ban although this ban did come with a 3 day ban for "Griefing" that has since expired and I did not think to save what was written there.

Link to previous appeals for the same ban (if applicable):
N/A

Your appeal, including evidence (screenshots, etc):

So let me start out by explaining what happened (To the best of my memory I know logs will sort out what happened). I was having a bad morning IRL and once I got everything sorted I logged on. I wake up as CMP and there's a CT waiting at the cryo for some reason and says "Someone blew up the brig". I head to cargo because cargo was also attacked, I see Alan Jones with a "I" tag and ask the RO who was doing all this damage. He says "Spec Alan Jones" so I look around for the spec and don't see where he went. I head to the brig to see what happened. I see a synth and MT repairing the damage, looks like blast damage and a bunch of broken shit. I believe this is when I got a call that someone was attacking the cargo and I thought to myself "Attacking?" After seeing the damage done I decided they might straight up griefing so I grabbed a lethal in case I was fired upon. I see Alan Jones and I believe I told him to stop he was being arrested. He decides to run and I chased him around the Alamo firing probably like 6-7 taser shots as he ran in circles, luckily nobody else was hit but this had gotten me pretty worked up and pissed off. Now hes downed and I tried to put cuffs on him but I might have failed for some reason because as I dragged him off he suddenly escapes my grip and runs on to the Normandy, I switch to the stun baton and the Normandy launches with both of us on board. Now I'm really pissed off because this is getting ridiculous and I pull my sidearm then fire. Of course he kills me in retaliation, I log off/Rage quit.

I fully understand that I failed in my role IC/OOC and its very important to keep my cool in such situations. I definitely wasn't thinking clearly that round and its been hard to not keep thinking about it. That being said, I really do enjoy playing as an MP and I've been improving at RP and making the law side of the game fun for the arrested as well. I hope I can be given another chance.

Damn, I did not realize the MT incident was the day before. I did note the incident in my appeal and I know I havent been playing as much as I did before these incidents but when I have it was mostly as MT without trying any kind of pranks or other low rp actions. I've also been taking a more active role in reporting people who are SSD instead of the latter.

In a short amount of time, you got notes for Low-RP behavior.

I'd suggest next time something like this happens to wait a while just in-case a staff member tries messaging you.

For now, sitting on this ban for a few more months should suffice. Keep playing other roles and if you don't acquire any other notes then I'd be down for this job-ban being lifted.

Agreeing with lumdor here, Sitting on the ban for a few months without getting notes on other jobs will definitely give you some good marks towards getting the MP Ban lifted.

It's understandable that you got upset. While understandable, it's also not ok for a CMP to do what you did.
You haven't played that much since your jobban, either.

Even so, I think it should be fine to unjobban you from MP, but not CMP. You sound like you fully understand what you did was wrong and want to improve. Part of that sounds like avoiding situations where you're pissed off before you even start playing the game. It's like hiding the keys from yourself before you get drunk... Kinda.

If you can play for a while without any new MP related (or otherwise significant) notes, you can probably successfully appeal CMP later. That's assuming that your MP jobban is removed right now, of course. Whether it is or not, you can appeal again after 1 month, though that doesn't mean not logging in for a month.
TLDR: Go back and read it. I spent time writing that, ya know.

This is what I was hoping for in the back of my mind. I do agree I haven't been playing as much I've been on a different shift since Sept 4th but this is my last day until I go back. And to be completely honest though the other roles are fun but I find MP/CL to be the most entertaining to RP which is another part of why I haven't played as much. I haven't ventured into medical yet but I've been reading up on procedures and such. As for logging off, I did try to come back a few minutes later just to explain myself but I was already banned at that time which is understandable. I checked the cm-ss13.com site for an admin contact but couldn't really find anything. Regardless I'm at your mercy and I appreciate the responses.

If your game crashes or you lose connection, you can use the official Discord to contact us. As for the ban, we're going to lift MP and see how you do. If you don't cause any issues, you may appeal the CMP ban in no less than one month.

Resolved - MP ban lifted, CMP ban may be appealed on October the 30th.
I used to play Luke Compton. Now I play Reginald Dempsey.
