Ban Appeal

Post by cstandish » 20 Nov 2018, 11:31

Your Byond ID: Colby standish

Character Name: Colby Finnson

Type Of Ban (Job-ban (include the job), Timed Ban, Permaban): Temporary ban

Admin who banned you (if known):x31stoverlord

Total Ban Duration:180 minutes

Remaining Duration: 160 minutes

What other servers do you play on? Currently I do not play on other servers.

Are you now or have you been banned on any servers? Which ones? Yes I have been playing SS13 since around 2010 and within that time I have gotten other bans on servers but I cannot remember them as I do not have a list and the vast majority were long ago on other servers. This is the first ban I have received on any SS13 server in more than a year and that last one was on Paradise station and I resolved it promptly through an appeal with the major cause being miscommunication. Currently as far as I am aware I am not banned on any other servers, I have always worked to resolve whatever actions I have caused to justify a ban or any punishment and actively pushed myself to correct any behaviors which are related to the problem.

Reason for ban (If you have a Permaban, it should be the EXACT MESSAGE YOU GET WHEN YOU LOGIN with the Error code that looks like this: X##XXX##. If you do not provide this EXACTLY you can't be unbanned): EORG This ban was made using a one-click ban system.

Link to previous appeals for the same ban (if applicable):

Your appeal, including evidence (screenshots, etc): I wish I had been recording because it is hard to show the scenario that took place but at the end of the round I had many AP mags for my M39 left so I was curious how many hits it would take to destroy a normal wall with said weapon and ammunition. There were not many other marines around when I began firing but one ran over to my line of fire very quickly and I stopped shooting to avoid hitting them. They darted back and forth in this line a few times but then kept going the direction they were headed. Once they passed
a bit away I began firing but they purposefully ran back into my line of fire. I had no intention of shooting anyone and I was specifically trying to avoid hitting people yet this person (I cannot remember their name but they were the ones who got hit by my shots so I'm sure you can find it) I think was actively trying to get anyone banned who was firing around at the end of the round. End of Round Grief (EORG) is fighting and generating any combat logs with friendly players after the round ends and is an immediate 3-hour ban without warning. I had no intention of fighting with anyone because I am well aware of this rule #4 and have not caused any EROG before. I have many times tested out damage of weapons with leftover ammunition at the ends of rounds to try and get a feel for a weapons power against different materials whenever possible. This individual was actively trying to get hit so they could cause others to gain a ban, that is why I wish I had been recording it would be so easy for you to see. I stopped immediately after hitting them unfortunately my SMG was on burst fire since I was trying to take down a wall which takes many hits but after hitting them i stopped shooting immediately and began to heal them since I was a medic.

Rule 3:

Bans take at minimum, 24 hours to be investigated and processed. Avoid appealing for a 24 hour or less ban.

Any friendly fire combat logs generated at the end of round result in an automatic ban for EORG unless its versus a larva that popped or another atagonist is being attacked.

I understand and felt that appealing on a 3 hour ban would not be very proper if the objective was to get rid of the timer keeping one from joining the server. My intention is to clear my name from this action though as I had no intention of causing harm and therefore grief to other players after the round had ended.

Notes are only used to determine continued patterns of behavior. End of round grief bans are minor, and little investigation can take place on them. This will not affect you in the future unless you do it consistently.

A tip to avoid this happening is the future would be to stop firing you weapon once the round ends. Shooting needlessly can cause issues like this.

Ok I understand. I was not shooting needlessly though I was trying to see how many SMG AP mags would take down a regular wall. If I was just shooting for the sake of shooting like many at the end of the round when that marine came running over I would have gone somewhere else to shoot. After they started walking off I thought I was safe to continue on the same wall since I was already invested with many shots into that wall and being the end of the round there was limited time but they SPECIFICALLY and PURPOSEFULLY ran back into my fire to get me banned. I did not know this was considered minor and I wanted to clear my name of any problems from this since again, I did not intend to shoot anyone at the end of the round.

EORG Rules are definitive, if you generate a combat log, we will instantly act upon it. If this was intentionally caused by another player then you are free to report said player but appealing for a ban under 24 hours won't result in your note/ban being removed.

Auto Resolved - Ban timer has passed, Additional: Rule 3: Bans take at minimum, 24 hours to be investigated and processed. Avoid appealing for a 24 hour or less ban. Your bullet,s your fault, your ban.
