When survivors get treated like shit

Post by Cooliecan » 10 Jan 2016, 12:35

Byond ID: Cooliecan

Character name: Redrock Xen

Admin who banned you: secretstamos

Initial duration: 1440

Duration remaining: 1440

Reason for ban (EXACTLY what it says when you try to log in): You have been banned by secretstamos.
Reason: Griefed the CE by shooting him to death with an M39 as a rescued survivor.

Your appeal, including evidence (an http://www.imgur.com album is recommended for multiple screenshots):
► Show Spoiler
I'm laying down facts like bread and butter The ce was breaking rule number one, being a dick.
Number 6, no griefing. E.g killing people with no rp reason. There was a rp reason behind it, The CE was being a complete asshole to a survivor who was trying to help set up the engine after being called out for crimes that were overzealous.
► Show Spoiler

So after leaving jail the aliens began to board so Redrock armed himself as the CE continued to barrate him with insults. So Redrock being a man pushed to the edge rand over to the engine were the CE continued to verbally berate him Redrock aimed the gun at his head and said "Seven-six-two millimeter. Full metal jacket. sir" The CE then used his radio triggering the autofire on the aiming mechanism not even giving redrock a chance to talk so then he finished him off.

I don't get how there is no roleplay behind Redrocks actions. This is the first time i've had Redrock Xen fire upon friendlies on purpose. I roleplayed as a survivor who has been pushed to the edge and a couple of the staff on the sulco continued to poke and prod at the extremely uneasy miner treating him with nothing but hostility.

I admit I probably should of have redrock say more before he shot the CE like "stop being an asshole, i've been through a lot and you're not helping" (which was said over the radio), but as far as he knew the MP were on their way to sodomize him with a stun baton. If a survivor is brought onboard the Sulaco it's not familiar territory and unless they have a LC onboard from W-Y they can very easily feel like captives, once they start getting treated like shit and all horrifying ptsd events they lived through can trigger. Well treated survivor = Guest vs Horribly treated survivor = prisoner.

A griefer never aims before they shoot

I will be more cautious about how I roleplay dire situations like this again following the appropriate escalation of events before straight out murder.

Wyatt complained to me about getting killed by you. He told me that you just decided to murder him, which the logs support.

Let's take a nice good read of the rules, shall we?
Marine-specific rules (also applies to survivors once they have been rescued by the marines):

1. Lethal Force - This is defined as one marine purposefully using lethal weapons (guns, explosives, sharp objects, etc) on another marine (including beating a marine into crit/death) for a roleplay or in-character reason. The difference between this and grief, is that it normally involves 2 or more consenting players in a role-played incident or role-played escalation. A verbal argument followed by immediate murder is not "Lethal Force". You must properly escalate the situation (Argument>Pushing/Shoving/punching>Melee weapons>Guns). If you participate in a lethal force situation (even defending yourself) you are waiving your right to admin assistance (defined below). THIS DOES NOT PREVENT IC CONSEQUENCES SUCH AS DEMOTION OR ARREST. The key part of "Lethal Force" is that it is Roleplayed.
*Staff assistance - Defined as any action taken by any Staff to heal or aid in a player's negative state.
In particular note the "(also applies to survivors once they have been rescued by the marines)" part. This means that this applies to you. By taking the Marine's offer for rescue, you're basically forfeiting your right to play survivor as an antagonist and consenting to the same rules as the marines.
The difference between this and grief, is that it normally involves 2 or more consenting players in a role-played incident or role-played escalation.
Wyatt was not consenting. There wasn't much escalation at all. You quoted Full Metal Jacket, aimed a gun at him, and killed him when he used his radio.

Lastly...
A verbal argument followed by immediate murder is not "Lethal Force".

You even didn't bother ahelping the situation for permission before carrying it out..

Situation investigated.

The ban is 100% justified and should be upheld. You ( as a survivor) had explosives on your player and you were in a secure engine core aboard a military ship even with the COs permission no one else knew you where there and the CO was not responding when asked so of course they arrested you. They even released you when the CO told them he had giving you permission and the first thing you do after the MP talked to you was to run back to engineering with a gun and point it at the CE for having you arrested and "acting like an asshole" although I see nothing that indicts him as an asshole and promptly shoot him.

The hostility that the CE had to you was also 100% justified as you were a civilian working on a military vessels engine core claiming the CO sent you without any evidence to back you or proper ID. Calling you stupid and dumb is 100% reasonable and expected from the CE when he catches a civilian inside a secure engine core of a military vessel.

Bottom line here is you shot him for calling you names, reflex shot or not that is not acceptable on this server. I am voting to have this ban upheld.

Ban should be expired by now. Please take more precaution in the future and make sure you fully understand the rules.
