Madelyn-The sadistic medic

Post by Triel Wolfblood » 13 Jun 2015, 19:26

Full name:Madelyn 'Saw' Skywalker

Nickname(s):Medic, Saw, Skywalker,Mads

Age: 20

Birth date: 15/11

Gender: Female

Position: Sulaco medic/researcher (i sometimes take that to have fun with nades)

Notable traits: Knows how to fix robotic limbs. Has robotic both arms and legs. Also can do many surgeries at once

Persona: Likes hurting people as much as healing them. Says that she likes healing people because that shows in how much ways you can hurt them

History: Nobody really knows where she comes from but some things things hint that she may be german. At age of 18 having finished medical academy she was hired by (insert generic mining company here) as a medic because demand for mined materials grew since discovery of solid plasma and since miners tend to be really injuried if they manage to come back in one piece and as the demand for materials grew more people were hired to mine and more medics were needed. Back then she also discovered she enjoys hurting people as much as she does like helping them. One day she found an advert for company of marines called Colonial Marines. Knowing that marines probally get hurt more than miners she departed, hoping she will find more ways to help and hurt people

Relations: Nobody

Basic appearance: Piercing blue eyes, medium lenght black hair, fairly dark skin, never seen without surgical tools (though she recently started putting them in a container that can be put in a backpack)

Likes: Surgery tools, screaming people, harming things, grenades (she loves them, especially ones filled with acid), surgeries, especially without anesthic (is she a masochist too?), Strong Alcohols.

Dislikes: Cyborgs (they dont scream), Places without tables, roller beds, and any other things she cant perfom surgeries on

Strengths: Very good at surgeries, healing, chemistry, can drink much.

Weaknesses: Things that cant be hurt, not having her surgery tools at hand makes her feel really bad but having tools but no suitable surfaces to put 'patient' on is even worse

Other Info: Motto: Healing is not as rewarding as hurting. But its still worth it, you cant hurt things that are dead after all. Rarely uses anesthic on patients for surgery. If she does, shes obviously up to no good. Allways has surgery tools at hand

This character breaks server RP. You cannot make grenades or robotic limbs as a medic.

He is saying fix, which a Profesional doctor on military ship should know
He also can make grenades but he has no resources for that and is not really allowed to do that due to researchers doing that

Well nothing prevents you from having them right? And a person who has them should learn how to fix them no matter whats the job, especially because sometimes people with damaged robotic limbs come and you should treat them because nobody assigns a engineer to medbay. Also not sure why medic shouldnt be able to smack together a grenade with a good reason but might get ridda it
Roleplay games are supposed to be played like if you were the character. Somehow i dont belive a person would just know how to do their job and related stuff and nothing else. Life gives different experiences and skills

From my experience, grenades and fixing limbs seems to be really simple from the text. If you read what your character does, its basically:

Robotic Limb: Oh, its all dented and jamming, lets just bend this plate back into shape. Oh, this wires fucked up. I'll just replace this wire with this magical identical wire that we all have that lacks any maximum or minimum voltage limitations.

And with the Grenade, you pretty much slot two beakers into their holding points in the shell and then slap an ignitor with a timer screwed to it. I always viewed grenades as being set up like a modular system that just snaps together. After all, why would you make them complicated when you can design them to be easy to use?

Medics making grenades is not allowed- End of Story.

Repairing Robotic Limbs is allowed as a Medic, making them is not.

As was pointed out in another bio, these aren't a strict "This is how that player must act ingame", they were almost an excuse for the imagination to go wild. Anything that isn't allowed ingame just doesn't carry over, period, and would be punished accordingly ingame. out here, its fine.

Still not a fan of being forced to know only your job and nothing outside it but eh if thats what admins wants.
But honestly i think it kinda hits on freedom of roleplay games. After all knowing ONE thing outside of your specialisation isnt especially gamebreaking right?

Triel it didn't always use to be like that.. but now it is due to it probably not making sense as in... a medical doctor knowing how to reload and fire a rifle fluently with not training what so ever.

They're on a marine ship. They're going to know how to use a gun. You don't bring Noncombatants with you without giving them any combat training whatsoever.

What i mean is they would probably learn to fire a pistol or something like that.. as i would presume most the time the doctors would have guards etc to do the real work of killing.

Military ship. Therefore military training. They may be scientists and medical doctors, but this is a combat ship. They need to have the training to defend the ship if necessary.

Also, guns are designed to be easy to use. Point at target, pull trigger, target has a hole in it. Reloading? Pull out box, put in new box.

sounds like great explanation

Also anyone figured out whats so complex in grenades that you need to be a scientist to make them?

Think about it in an IC sense, not an OOC Sense. In what way does it make sense that a medic could know how to set a sensitive trigger mechanism. Or proper chemical mix amounts to give the most volatile violent explosion, or the quickest release. They wouldn't know the amount of force needed to shatter both beakers to cause an on mix reaction.

Same way someone who studies science wouldn't know all parts of the human body, proper amounts of pressure to direct in areas during surgery, or proper medicine dosages.

You're thinking of it in the way "Grenades are two beakers of chemicals together that you shove in a metal casing." -No- We RP in this server, we don't go to the simplicity of SS13. Pretty sure you can't construct a wall in 10 seconds flat in real life either. Does it make sense to you to just "Smack together some metal to make some girders, then you slip a bit of metal in and you have a wall."?

Yeah, it does make sense actually. You see, this is the future. In the future we have universal wires. These metal sheets may actually be a lump of nano-machines.

Actually... that would explain a lot wouldn't it? Like how we can fix borgs and prosthetics with just a welder, we're just giving them nanomachines some more energy to realign.

Also, it doesn't take a chemistry major to understand that potassium+water=boom, and the trigger mechanisms in this game are anything but delicate, you can throw them around and shoot at them and the only time they go off is if you push that button.

Igniters are literally a spark plug with a button on them, click one in your hand and it makes sparks. Like I said, grenades in this game are basically tinker-toys, or if you don't know what those are, grenades are like Legos.

Why is there a argument over a goddamn grenade constructing?
Medical doctors, or Chemists in normal SS13 are fully capable of making grenades and they chemicals
Are you telling me that if a science station has chemists fully able of making grenades and they chemicals, a military ship cannot have a doctor that is able to do it? they only really do it when there is no researchers to make them really
