The son of Russell and Maria Flynn. His childhood was always looking up to his parents and trying his hardest to follow in their footsteps. He was homeschooled, so he rarely got to interact with other people his age, he mostly only got to see adults in his childhood, most of them being doctors from where his father worked. He rarely got to have fun in the normal childish manner. When he failed, he studied, when he succeeded he studied even harder since this isn’t good enough, there is always a better a path. So he was a bookworm and, rarely got to experience the world for what it was.
His father Russell Flynn was a lead researcher for a now defunct medical research company by the name of Pelops’ Technologies, Inc. named after a Greek mythological figure of the same name, who had a shoulder of ivory. This up and coming company’s only claim to possible stardom was their research into biomechanical prosthetics, which were mainly for returning veterans, who came home disfigured and generally uncared for. A “small” company by the name of Weyland-Yutani, which saw these designs as useful for their own line of prosthetics, buttered up the owners of Pelops for them to become a subsidiary for Wey-Yu with the promise of funding for their research for the “betterment” of the field but as the months rolled by. Wey-Yu set many unachievable deadlines and goals that the researchers of Pelops couldn’t accomplish. So they deemed the company unprofitable and slashed their funding, slowly making the company a husk of its former self, yet the deadlines continued to approach and with no possible way to achieve such feats, the company was finally dissolved, yet another casualty to mega corporation greed, all to be forgotten about as time flows. Many of the higher ups and lead researchers of Pelops were offered fair jobs in Wey-Yu, so Russel decided to take them up on the offer, but once his department finally finished work on their first product, Russel decided to ask how the pricing structure was going to be for their product. The higher ups stated that it shall be 150% more pricey than the standard Wey-Yu model, Russel found this odd since their product was cheaper to produce, but the higher ups retorted, they are charging more for this product to cover for all the R&D costs, that Pelops apparently “failed” on. Wey-Yu pushed Russel out of his job and he couldn’t get any of his former supervisor’s reference, due to it being a nail in their metaphorical careers’ coffins, so he was only able to find work in a small out of the way, clinic in need of able doctors. Oddly enough, he seemed to enjoy this more than the labs of Wey-Yu, calling it warmer than the labs of Wey-Yu
His mother, Maria Flynn was such an optimistic person, always seeing the best out of people. Barry only has very few memories of his mother since she was always away, fighting for the good fight. Her motto was “You must go to those who need help, not the other way around.” So she was always near where people needed her most: warzones, major catastrophes, etc. She would always make emails and photos from where she was, either her recovering patients or the lovely sights, she had seen on her journey. Around Barry’s 16th birthday, a very ominous letter from United States Colonial Marines arrived, Russel read the letter and his eyes sank and walked off to his room and locked the door. This was when Russel started to become a tad more distant with Barry. These were tough years for Barry since now he felt his family was fractured, his once happy father’s death came only 3 years later but at least now he's finally united with his desperately missed wife, Maria Flynn, when Barry was finally in college working his way to medical school.
College and Medical school just flew by for Barry. He just allowed life to stumble by, from him constantly switching jobs to various clinics and hospitals around until he thought of his mother again, and remembered her advice, of going to those to who need help and not just waiting idly by for them to come to you. So he was contracted by the USCM to be a doctor. Yet this was far from a dream come true for him. He got to be acquainted with several nice marines but as the times when on, he started to see them die for cause, they didn’t understand or care about, as long as they got to shoot shit. This slowly turned this once optimistic into a pessimist and really he had no idea where he would go after his contract expires, that deadline was 2 months when Lazarus sent out that distress call. -To be continued in game-
TL;DR for those who don’t want a read a long overblown story

Other Info:
Follows The Oath of Maimonides modified with bits of the oath of the healer which is:
Code: Select all
May the love for my art actuate me at all time; may neither avarice nor miserliness, nor thirst for glory or for a great reputation engage my mind; for the enemies of truth and philanthropy could easily deceive me and make me forgetful of my lofty aim of doing good to Thy children.
May I never see in the patient anything but a fellow creature in pain.
Grant me the strength, time and opportunity always to correct what I have acquired, always to extend its domain; for knowledge is immense and the spirit of man can extend indefinitely to enrich itself daily with new requirements.
Today he can discover his errors of yesterday and tomorrow he can obtain a new light on what he thinks himself sure of today.
I am not a God and I cannot perform miracles. I am simply a person who has been given the rights and responsibilities to be a Healer. I pledge to myself and all who can hear me, that I shall not fail you.
And OOC stuff, probably going to be the ghost lounging near medbay trying to assist doctors who seem to be struggling and will probably seem annoying (so sorry for that, my intentions are there to mostly be helpful)
