To start your first round as an SL, you need to get your supplies.
The supplies you need are:
- Marine uniform - It's what all the other marines wear and it's just as important.
- Combat boots - Basic boots.
- Squad Leader headset - It will be on your locker. This is what lets you talk to command directly. DO NOT FORGET IT!!!
- Ammo rig - You need it for the ammo you need to fight.
- Squad gloves - Show squad pride by wearing these.
- Squad leader helmet - Found in the vendor. This has a camera on it so your overwatch officer can watch you in action. It also takes an extra hit from huggers.
- Squad leader armor - Also found in your vendor. It is a lot stronger, and helps you stand out in the crowd. I normally put my orbital beacon and plastic explosive in the armor.
- webbing - This will be in your vendor. I normally use it for my supply beacons.
- Orbital Beacons - VERY IMPORTANT!!! It allows the Sulaco to bombard an area full of xenos and help you push an area and evac. You activate it by clicking on it while it's in your active hand. You get one of these.
- Supply beacons - VERY IMPORTANT!!! It allows supplies to be dropped on your location. You get three of these and will use them very often.
- Plastic Explosives - Allows you to blow a hole in doors and walls what get in your way. If you're brave enough you could plant it on an alien to kill them that way.
- Weapon of your choice - Everyone needs a weapon. Choose the one you like best.
- Ammo for your weapon - You always need ammo for the weapon you choose.
- attachments - As a squad leader you can get a choice of three attachments. Use them all. Even if you don't need three you can pick one for your favorite squad member.
Give you squad the items you don't use. No need to waste them. Next, you want to report to command with ":v" You must have your leader headset. Other headsets don't have the command radio. Also, inform your squad you're the Squad Leader. You need to show them that you're friendly and will be a decent leader.
LEADING YOUR SQUAD
When you are giving orders!
- Try to stick with them. Don't change your orders in the middle of an objective.
- Keep your squad together. The worst thing to do is have your squad divided, you're always stringer as a group.
- Make smart choices! Don't tell your squad to attack the hive with out a plan in mind.
- ALWAYS HAVE A BACK UP PLAN! Things will always change. You need to know where you squad is going to flee and what they are going to do after. Don't forget to make a plan to accomplish your main objective either.
- Keep track of your marines and their needs. You have radio contact directly with command. Order supplies when you and your squad need them. Nothing weakens a squad more than no supplies.
- Follow commands orders at all times. Try not to anger them because they could send you on a mission that will get you killed, or they could arrest you for insubordination.
