Alright so making guides is the next new hip thing. Im Hip.
1. Your Kit. What you take will be your small little chance to make a difference in a big fuck off battle.
Your important shit consists of your Bag/Satchel, SL Helmet/Armor/Headset and Beacons. Give the Flamers to the PFC's. Shits to front line for a SL. Get your webbing and slap them Boom Boxes in there.
OK You've got your shit. Good job. . Grab a weapon. Id recommend the Pulse Rifle. Good all around. ONLY BRING ONE MAG OF AP IF THAT. Leave the AP And FF to the fucking PFC's. Your better than that. Cmon.
Alright Neat you've got your gun. While your probably waiting for your Quickfire/burst/charger setup in the line make SURE you check in on Coms not only with command to let them know they've got your sexy ass leading a squad
but check with your squad. this is VERY important. Too many SL's call their squad members "Boot" or fucking "Engie" and "spec" No. Stop. Don't. No one wants to be commanded by a person who wont bother to type out their chosen last name.
Just type it out your men will respect and follow you so much better if you can get a small temporary emotional bond.
2. The Leader of Men. SL's is an important role. Try not to fuck it up.
As an SL you are the only thing that connects a PFC to the CO and vice versa. If your men need ammo you fucking yell at the RO to give you the god damn ammo box now. The tide of the battle could rest on that AP mag. If your at least trying and on the mens side they will follow and respect your decisions much more. Being on their side doesn't t mean you are their slave. They do as you Say. Dont let them walk all over you. someones out of line kick his ass (with words). Make sure you use their names as we covered in the previous paragraph. Now listen up. Keep your fucking men close. Sometimes i personally would send a few lads who i trust and know are at least slightly robust on a flanking mission to let up some pressure on a LZ or some such. I would NOT recommend that for new SL's. If people don't know your name at least a little and you send them on a suicide mission and they do die they are gonna be pissed for a few rounds.
Alright that's at least the basics for now. Ill continue later. maybe. You cant tell me what to do i'm the god damn SL.

Not a bad guide, but I'd add that as an SL you should spend more time giving/receiving orders and requests, as well as overseeing the battlefield than shooting. One of the things I've learned is that a squadron leaders most important weapon isn't his rifle, but his squadron. When shooting as an SL you are only increasing the firepower of your squadron incrementally. However by constantly communicating and using your binocs you become a force multiplier. Only by doing this can you realize when you are outgunned, when you are being flanked, when the enemy is weak, and when its a good time to throw down an orbital bombardment. Watch, listen, think and speak, don't push grunts out of the way to try and score some kills.
