Congratulations, you decided to stay a sentinel, either because the Hunters are hogging the T2 slots or your own preference.
Let's get started with what you do and how to correctly use it.
THE DECISION
Spitters are really just upgraded sentinels, better in every form-even boasting its own damage-based spit- however it's a bit longer to become ancient compared to a sentinel and you're using up a T2 spot that could possibly used for something like a hivelord or carrier.
If you want to stay a neurotoxin machine gun, read on. If you're convinced that a spitter would be a better choice, try reading up on another guide.
Okay, I just evolved. What now?
You're argubly the strongest in defense terms of T1s, but this doesn't mean you can tank damage like no tomorrow. Your best use as a young/mature is to guard any hosts that happen to be in the hive and wait for upgrading to do it's thing.
In times of serious need, you can still hold your own and it's not uncommon to see young sentinels at the front stunning targets and taking advantage of their surprisingly good tackle.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT I HAVE AN ORGANIC TAZER
That's right, you get your very own neurotoxin spit and while you're young/mature this will probably only be used sparingly, but as soon as you hit elite and ancient you get to spam that as much as you want, which you should.
It's a long-range instant tackle and you should use it often, especially since it's your main combat utility.
You also have weak corrosive acid in times of need. If a boiler isn't around and you need a wall/barricade melted, don't be afraid to step up and use your own abilities. It's a bit slow but it makes do in a pinch.
FIGHTING AT THE FRONT LINES (aka neuro-fu mastery)
You should probably know how to fight as a xeno, but if you're brand new and a baldie at heart I'll let you in on some simple sentinel tips.
Your slash is very adequate. Use it only if you must. You're far better utilizing tackle/neurotoxin and letting your more offensive sisters taking care of the rest.
Spam your neurotoxin. Do it. Constantly. Like I said before, it's an instant long-range guaranteed tackle and I'll be damned if you let that go to waste.
Stay on weeds. Neurotoxin takes some plasma to shoot, albeit very small, but you'll run out quickly if you're spamming it too often.
It's also worth mentioning that you have an impressively good tackle rate, which makes you wonderful at dragging hosts into your sex dungeon hive to be impregnated.
Guarding, AKA The Boring Part
A sentinel's main role when not fighting is to guard hosts. Keep an eye on the feisty ones and make sure none escape. Simple job, but still important.
Keep close watch over your hosts. Tallhosts especially love to knife their way out or try to shoot themselves, so try to stop them in their tracks. Melting guns after they pull them out is a good way to prevent further suicide attempts.
CLOSING STATEMENTS
I can't think of too many tips past this, especially considering how simple sentinels are.
I'll probably add to this guide later.
You're versatile in most situations, and will likely be thrust into many of them.
Remember your neuro-fu training and you'll make it out alive, hopefully.

Advocating renesting and reseting people's timers?
Absolutely fuckin disgusting.
Beno players like you who do that are why there shouldn't be an action delay when your pulled out of a nest.

It sucks for marine players because it removes all chance of escape because of the action delay they have from getting out of a nest. It's kinda scummy, it would be better if you watched them in a nesting room and neuro'd them when they break free. You have to remember that the marines are players too.

Changes are better, and I'd like to add a tip from my time playing sentinel. Resin cells are bad nest designs, a marine has time to kill himself after breaking out because of the time it takes to open the resin door, try to get the drones to build a proper nesting room where the hosts are spread out somewhat, but without walls to block your neurospit. I've talked to a mod about the rp rules for suicide, and they said suicide is fair game if you have been captured as a marine. It's up to the sentinels to keep them nested. So keep an eye on marines, and don't lock them up in cells because that gives them ample time to shoot their sidearm 7 times into their head. Nobody should get salty from being guarded by some sentinels especially if the nest room has multiple non ssd marines in it, because if there is one thing nested marines like to do, it's talk. This stuff isn't madatory but it's more fun than keeping them locked down for both the sentinels and the marines as they try to coordinate an escape, all the odds are stacked in the aliens favor and by keeping the marines active you are more likely for them to play as that larva they have incubating in their chest.
