Re: Guide for good RO
Updated guide a bit. We can't use mines on Sulaco now, engineers, medics and specs have webbing in their vendors now and replaced some screenshots.

Re: Guide for good RO
Thank you for this! Found it half way through a round when the RO disappeared after the initial rush. Tremendous help! I'll start using your care packages! Should you throw a beacon pack into the initial purchases? So they can have multiple? Or can they pick up a used beacon?

Re: Guide for good RO
Medics still don't have webbing in their vendors. Engineers and specialists do have it.

I hope I will update guide soon.
No, you can order one beacon crate later only if Sls atively use beacons and... that's happens not often. No, all beacons disappear after using.Chuckachu wrote:Thank you for this! Well, made few edits. I'm confused and can't figure out already, what in guide doesn't match build, if you found something, comment it, I will update guide.
Also, if someone will waste their time, join as Req/CT and make a screenshot of attachments in vendor and their amount at round start, I will be very grateful.

Re: Guide for a good RO
The guide should emphasize the usefulness of the Ripley Exosuit when it comes to combating the Aliens. So long as you really emphasize the rules regarding its usage (only to use it if cargo itself is being attacked and it should not leave cargo unless its being overrun).
I've personally seen less Marines asking for webbing, really only Combat Medics critically need webbing and Standards have enough inventory space already, and considering webbing crates are pretty expensive (40 points last I checked) I've only taken to order one crate at round start and to save the rest for after the attachment rush for ordering in other misc items.

Re: Guide for a good RO
It can be really effective if used in the right circumstances.
A few good hits with the CLAMPS will crit and kill even T3 Aliens quite quickly, and even without armour upgrades the Exosuit can take a lot of damage. HOWEVER the Exosuit can have its equipment destroyed very easily, or lose control or set on fire. In addition its very slow and easy for a fast moving Alien to kite to death. In addition there's a lot of rules around its usage, essentially you can't take the Exosuit out of cargo bay to fight unless the cargo bay itself is being overrun.
The best use of it is to use it to hold a tight corridor, such as a 1 tile wide corridor, forcing Aliens to come at you directly, in many cases the Aliens will attempt to find a alternative route through.
Its powerful in the right hands but the admins will be swift to warn/ban/sleep you for breaking the rules around it.
Its one of the few pleasures/joys of playing a RO. You spend two to three hours helping the Marines, buying attachments and weapons and overall being a support character on the Sulaco, and once in a while you may get the chance to crack out the Ripley.

I'll add info about Ripley later.Steelpoint wrote:The guide should emphasize the usefulness of the Ripley Exosuit when it comes to combating the Aliens. Well, for me it's controversial, many medics don't ask about webbings and I have to offer it them. Though standards sometimes asks for webbings.
Well, a bit time ago Ripley was killing machine and RO/CT sometimes managed to kill 3-4 aliens with it without even receiving repair. Dunno, how useful it's now after xeno update.

Re: Guide for a good RO
I manged to kill a Praetorian and nearly kill a Crusher (got dragged off) while my internet was lagging to hell, I also managed to really put the pain onto two other Aliens who had to retreat to heal.
Its still pretty effective, though you'll quickly lose your CLAMPS if you take too many slashes.

May I ask how the slashes affect your clamps? I've yet to find out the hard way.

Re: Guide for a good RO
More so there's a RNG chance of your CLAMPS being destroyed, this is true for all Exosuits in SS13 and I don't know the mechanics behind it but it seems to only happen when you really start to lose your mechs health.

No information on when it's okay to order weapons crates. I am disappoint.

When is it not? That way your CTs can throw guns at each other to keep themselves amused while you do all the work.ShortTemperedLeprechaun wrote:No information on when it's okay to order weapons crates. I am disappoint.
