DOs and DONTs of your relationship with Medical
I am not good with openings, so right into the meat we go. Ever had a doctor that cursed you out, being swamped with work in low pop with 10+ patients waiting? Here is what you do to keep a good relationship between yourself as a marine and the MedSci wing.
DO
1. DO inform your doctors about what to expect.
2. DO wait patiently when the doctor finishes up surgery on another person.
3. DO wait in the lobby if you actually wait.
4. DO realize that he/she is only one person.
5. DO realize that doctors have access to anesthetic if things get out of hand.
6. DO make sure that if you don't need medical attention, get out of Medical.
7. DO let doctors know your location if you need help. As Arachnidnexus pointed out, screaming 'FUCKING USELESS DOCTORS' when you won't say where you are guarantees you won't be treated.
DON'T
1. DON'T act like a marine with no RO.
2. DON'T swarm Medbay like a pack of ignorant lemmings.
3. DON'T leave patients in critical out in the hallway where doctors can't see them.
4. DON'T shoot out the glass/knife the grilles into medbay. They are there for a reason.
5. DON'T accuse a doctor of malpractice without proof.
6. DON'T come to Medical with superficial wounds.
7. DON'T shoot each other because shrapnel removal pisses the hell out of doctors.
8. DON'T assume doctors are harmless. They just don't want a job ban.
9. DON'T hack into Chemistry if you OD on Dylovene.
10. DON'T bitch about doctors over general comms because they are there to save lives.
11. DON'T assume doctors have ESP and can see critical patients all over the Sulaco.
12. DON'T crowd in Medbay. That makes the doctor's job of SAVING LIVES that much harder, having to push past people who don't even need medical attention.
Addendum: Accusing doctors of malpractice, even if there is only one doctor is a good way to get your entire team killed. No one will go to Medical to be healed, no one will be cloned, etc. etc.

Re: DOs and DONTs of your relationship with Medical
Remember, yelling "MEDIC!" without any indication of where you are or how you might be injured is the best way to get prompt lifesaving medical attention. If you really want to be helpful, saying something like "FUCKING USELESS DOCTORS! I NEED A MEDIC NOW!" over and over again without any clarifying details is considered the gold standard of doctor-marine communication.

This guide should be followed by all that want a good time with their doctors.
Just keep in mind that you trust these people to put you under and cut you open, don't piss off the guy that can saw all your limbs off without you even noticing until it's too late.
But no doctor would ever do that, surely >.>

Re: DOs and DONTs of your relationship with Medical
Everyone should have to memorize this thread before they can enter medbay. Also, don't stand in front of one tile wide doors and hallways when a doctor/medic is dragging someone. It's just plain stupid and annoying. That may be similar to some of the DOs and DONTs above, but there are few things that make a doctor want to repeatedly stab you with anesthetics more than blocking their path because you enjoy staring at some freaking wall in medbay.

Also, tell medical if you bring a dead body out of the shuttle or to cloning bay. We can't sense dead bodies, man. We need to know they're there, so just holler at medical over comms.

Re: DOs and DONTs of your relationship with Medical
Something to mention, if you need a doctor and are yelling 'medic', you're probably going to get your squad's or someone' field medics worked up looking around for injured marines even if they're unable to offer any better treatment than earlier. Especially when you're in the medbay lobby or medbay itself shouting at the top of your lungs for one. That medic may be heading ground side to keep critical marines somewhat more stable.
Suppose one possible DO for field medics to Medical relationships, If medbay is getting worked up with an excessive amount of injuries coming in and they've been recently pulled back, field medics could assist somewhat with triage duty partly, scanning even whilst coordinating in medbay. Personally know some several times either as the CMO or an overworked doctor with marines complaining, I'd like sometimes having a field medic fill in for cloning detail or triage duty whilst I'm in neck deep surgery regardless of marines insulting medical due to back order on surgery.
Another important DO specifically for medics to Medical relationships;
Make sure you stop the bleeding, can not even begin to count how many times patients came in bleeding out externally, internally I can understand were they out of quick clot, but don't forgot about the external bleeding opening up after you inject that quickclot. Can tell/relate with the battlefield being messy or distracting, but atleast try to stop the bleeding. Suffocating, give inapprovaline to help delay suffocating damage whilst planning carefully ahead, also gives the doctors more time to work with upon arriving in the Sulaco.
One important DON'T for marines, which I could think of imminently after something weeks ago.
DON'T barge into an OR and interrupt a surgery in progress. {Shoving to taking important equipment briefly to interrupt the surgery, whilst arguing with the doctor about getting a KIA squad member cloned} That'll both give medical staff a lower opinion upon you or others, and likely get the MP called in.
However there is an exception there partly; likely an infected patient that was notified to the doctor by radio, or the doctor requests something be brought in 'stat/asap' in order for the patient's life to be save.

DO get patients who needs surgery waiting in line:
This lets patients know that they are queued up for surgery, so people don't keep yelling over comms for a doctor and clog up the walkway. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Do print out a report from the body scanner for all of those who require suregery. It allows the surgon to get the next paitent in quicker.

As a person who literally only plays doctor when playing the marine side, thank you for this guide for the bulk of the population. We are NOT harmless and I've had to remind people several times of that fact when they obstruct work.

My favorite thing is when the MPs cant catch someone who is messing around in medical. Just stab em with the injector and watch as they flail helplessly at our feet.

Re: DOs and DONTs of your relationship with Medical
When the doctor says you're injured, DON'T reply with "i FEEL FINE! MUHREEN STRONK!" and try to leave.
You might not be having pain messages because you're on tramadol.
So if you have a head or chest or groin fracture, guess who just fucked up their internal organs by running around? Guess who just made the doctor's job ever harder because of your stupidity... Go on, guess.

The number of times they walk out saying they are fine, then 5 minutes later are cursing medical for not teleporting to them to fix the injeries they made worse is too high.Wickedtemp wrote:When the doctor says you're injured, DON'T reply with "i FEEL FINE! MUHREEN STRONK!" and try to leave.

Marines, listen to your doctor. Even a full body scan takes a matter of seconds, it wont kill you to let us make sure you are fit for duty.

"I'M FINE!" No, you have a head fracture. "I FEEL FINE!" You're on painkillers. "I'M TOUGH!" Yeah, well you're also now technically mentally retarded from all the brain damage, so there ya go.

Re: DOs and DONTs of your relationship with Medical
I'd say a pretty important "Do" for the marines is to offer to guard medical/surgery when boarded. Unless medbay is overly crowded the docs need you there for protection while they do their job.
