How 2 Standard

Post by Desolane900 » 10 May 2016, 15:52

Being a Standard Marine is easy but doing it right is hard.

How 2 Standard

Cohesion is key. You're part of a squad so act like it. Stay with your squad. Help your squad. Remain a team. A squad will do more damage together than any one marine ever could alone (situation dependant).

Follow your orders given by your Overwatch Officer or Squad Leader and stay with your Squad Leader until they die, then get them cloned. If you have no Squad Leader, follow your Specialist. Even on low population hours, every squad has a Specialist.

Protect your healer. Like every multiplayer game, defend the healer. Medics keep you alive so keep them alive. Keep an eye on them and give them support as needed. Engineers too but Medics take priority right under your Squad Leader.

Kick xeno ass and just follow these simple steps to be a better Standard.

Generally (from my point of view) as a standard you are one of/if not the best all round support class as you aren't exactly specified (Kind of a jack of all trades but not really, if that makes sense) in any skills like a medic or engineer who are in a squad normally only (And yes engineers and medics do go around killing aliens, like the rest of us, however their primary role is to help the squad maintain a presence on the ground) to either build, defend, hack areas or to heal and make sure players don't die in combat, for the exact reason that a standard doesn't have a party trick is the reason why it's so versatile. For instance you are the go-to guy for helping out a medic by dragging back any injured marines or squad members who have fallen behind as well as being the go to guy to guard engineers while they work, carrying extra equipment is another great aspect, and yes a spec or squad leader could do that job but they are in the top of the food chain which we call the command structure so it's highly unlikely and they shouldn't really be doing these suicidal types of missions. tl;dr you are cannon fodder, but you are the best kind there is which can help out the team in minor ways but overall with a slightly big impact.

That's all just personnel opinion, also nice guide :)
