Guide to Marking Territory and Doctoring

Post by Boltersam » 02 Jun 2016, 14:26

The name is a bit misleading, but now I'm going to teach Doctors how they should act, because too many times I have seen Doctors be cowed by marines, and too many times I've seen other doctors not establish that MEDBAY IS THEIR DOMAIN, what they say, goes. Some doctor tips in there too.

Introduction
You're a Doctor? Welp! Time to load up, because the storm of injured marines is coming. Here's the starter steps to take.

Step 1erino: Rush to Medical Storage on the right hand side of medbay, grab a sterile mask, sterile gloves, and lifesaver belt from the top left table. Then, go down a bit, and go to the dispenser, and take out an anesthetic. You will, I guarantee, need this later.

Step 2: Declare to the others which OR (If you want to be a surgeon) is yours, if you know how to use chemicals, station yourself in Chemistry and make the basic necessities. A better cloning mix, Imidazoline, and better healing chemicals. If you don't feel confident in either field, just use your Lifesaver bag to help out injured marines with minor injuries, and stabilise severely hurt ones.

Step 3: When the tide of wounded comes, order those who can stand into a line, and put the others in roller beds. Calmly (and I stress, CALMLY) take in the most wounded patients one by one, as they are the most critical ones. IMPORTANT NOTE, DO NOT BUMP INTO OTHER DOCTORS, THAT WILL OFTEN WASTE TIME THAT COULD BE USED NOT LETTING PEOPLE DIE.

Territory
Here comes the main focus of my disgruntlement. Medical is YOUR territory. You do not allow yourself to be pushed around, you are a civilian, not a dingbat marine. If a marine tries to walk away while injured, stop him. If he continues to try to walk away, inject him with the Anesthetic I told you to take over. This will paralyse him.

Note: To get rid of the effects of Anesthetic quickly, use Dialysis on the marine in a sleeper.

If someone threatens you with harm, do the above. For an example, I was busy doing surgery and told a NON-WOUNDED marine to get the fuck out of medical. She took out a grenade and threatened me with it. What you should do in this situation? Use the fucking Anesthetic, confiscate that grenade, and put them in one of the chairs in the lobby. THEN, alert Command or the MPs if any. If there are none, let them sit there until the Anesthetic wears off.

Likewise, protect your fellow Medical staff. If they are in a similar situation to the above, you help them with your number 1 paralysis tool. Saving lives is more important than some dipshit wasting your time.

Ending

A short guide, but it's quite simple. It will be updated if I decide to rant about anything else, but I believe this is a useful guide for doctors.

Now, the Ending is more directed at the Marines.

BE FETHING RESPECTFUL. These are the people with the skills to fix your broken bones from FF and remove the shrapnel, as well as save you from the certain death of being infected. Do what they say, or they WILL punish you for it, because in Medbay, we're on a time limit to save people. If you are in Medbay, and not wounded, you get the FUCK out. If you are in Medbay, and lightly wounded, you do not repeatedly scream MEDIC when there's a WAY more heavily wounded guy near you on a roller bed. DOCTORS WILL COME TO YOU EVENTUALLY.

And do not, under ANY circumstance, try to walk out the door in red health screaming at the Doctor trying to HELP you that you're fine!

Can we get word from the staff on whether or not it's okay to Anesthetic on uncooperative marines?

I've done it several times before, I don't know if any complaints rose from it or not. Best to get confirmation though.
