Frequently asked gameplay questions
We need a page on for this on the wiki too. I'll update this as it comes to mind.
1. How do I look up/down ladders?
Drag the ladder sprite to your character.
2. How do I stop looking up/down ladders?
OOC Tab > Cancel Camera view or move away. Cancel Camera view is more reliable though.
3. How do I throw things up/down ladders?
Have it in your hand and click the ladder with it. Grenades will auto-prime but flares will need to be activated first.
4. How do I use the rail scope on my sniper rifle?
Activate attachments button located on the bottom right.
5. How do I grab things from my helmet?
Drag helmet sprite to your character.
6. How do I take off facepaint?
Get a piece of paper, target mouth and click yourself.
7. Whats the difference between evolving and upgrading as an alien?
Evolving gives you new abilities and sometimes removes some old ones. Upgrading makes you stronger (improves your stats).
8. Map of Ice Colony?
wiki/File:Map_icecolony.png
9. How do I devour as an alien?
Drag/grab your target then click yourself. Becareful though, marines can reverse burst out of you if they awake inside your stomach and have a knife. Everything will slowly die in your stomach so don't keep them there for too long.
10. Can I mutiny?
Do you have a valid reason for mutiny? And can you get 5 other people who will mutiny with you? If I PM them about the mutiny, will they say yes? If you can answer yes to all these questions, ahelp again and someone will authorize your mutiny shortly. Remember to give the Commander a chance to stand down instead of just shooting him.
11. As a marine, can I kill X player?
No.
OR As a marine, will I be banned if I kill X player?
Yes.
Use proper RP escalation if you want to start a fight.
12. How do I pump shotgun/what is the macro to pump shotgun?
Use the button on the bottom right "use-unique-action". The new macro is ".click use-unique-action".
13. How do I use my headset/radio?
Shift-click your headset to see what channels it has access to.
14. What is WO role?
Its a custom preference for the map Whiskey Outpost (WO). If you have it set to yes, you may be chosen to become a Doctor or Commander on that map instead of a standard grunt.
15. What is the difference between Marksman and Recon?
Cosmetic only, currently. Marksman is the old set. Recon has new stuff.

Stand on, or next to it. Click on it, hold and drag onto your character's sprite. This is also how you do things like access someone else's inventory to strip them/put things on them, and how you grab a wheelchair to push it about.GarlicBread wrote:How do you fold up bodybags/roller beds?

Re: Frequently asked gameplay questions
What RP limits are there for Standards? Is knowing things like basic first aid tolerable? What isn't accepted for Standards to know? [Or in general, what is a Standard allowed to get away with without going overboard?]

I'd say that basic first aid is acceptable but thats my personal opinion. There are first aid vends located around the ship including on the rasp. Soldiers should be carrying bandages down with them.Renomaki wrote:What RP limits are there for Standards? Is knowing things like basic first aid tolerable? What isn't accepted for Standards to know? I'm pretty sure a standard knows what bandages are and tricord needles. They don't need to know what exactly tricord does but they should know that sticking yourself with a tricord needle will make you feel better (similar to stims).

Re: Frequently asked gameplay questions
Personally, if the situation calls for it, I'll use bandages, tricord, and quick clot... but no health scanners, so you get to guess if you need it. First, you really should yell for a medic though. Additionally, if the situation REALLY calls for it, I'll hack doors, by only cutting wires (no mending, no multitools, no gloves), TOP to BOTTOM. If if opens, I got lucky. Again though, I'll yell for an engi first...

Hmm, I dunno, quick clot might be pushing it..JPR wrote:Personally, if the situation calls for it, I'll use bandages, tricord, and quick clot... but no health scanners, so you get to guess if you need it. If you are going to use quick clot but no scanner, then it might better to let a medic do the job.
Otherwise, wrappings and cream should be more than fair. You might not be able to conduct an operation on a friend if his bones are busted, but you can at least improve his chances of survival by tending to his wounds before shipping him up. Trust me, nothing sucks more than dying on the trip up because a medic didn't bother to properly fix you up.. I had that happen at least once.

Re: Frequently asked gameplay questions
You can construct crates out of plasteel.
Crates and freezers can be shipped for 5 cargo points apeice. Stamping the shipping manifest will grand 1 point per manifest stamped.
You can make coffins out of wood, and use them as non-droppable crates (good for manually shipping on the dropship/pod)
Several attachments are redundant- putting an RDS, grip, extended barrel, and stock on a rifle yields no real practicable benefits over placing just an RDS and grip.
Every rifle starts with an underbarrel grenade launcher. It has 2 shots.
Throwing knives cannot be deflected.

Re: Frequently asked gameplay questions
I agree and also feel that as a standard, bandages/ointments/tricord injectors should be fair use. Anything else would probably be better administered by a medic or doctor.Renomaki wrote: Hmm, I dunno, quick clot might be pushing it..

Any chemical/drugs/pills should probably only be consumed with the advisement of a doctor or medic before hand (they hand it to you for consumption). Quick clot has OD limits too, so I feel they shouldn't be used by anyone else aside from doctors or medics. Given CM's unique OD limits, I think this would be fair. At the same time, if medbay has prepared combat stims, and the doctors were the ones who prepared it and gave it to standards, they should be able to use it safely on themselves after being advised on dosage etc. Even better if the doctor labels a custom loaded hypospray with dosage limits and its intended purpose. But that's just my opinion.
