Sec generally has a range of 20 minutes they can put you in for, a minute or two shaved off doesn't matter compared to the MPs being able to shaft you for twenty if they wanted to, and personally I just activate the timer after I'm done stripping the prisoner over the locker and mentally adjust the time down by one minute. Technically violates procedure but it's far more convenient to search for contraband, adjust timing, and not have to fiddle with locking the locker, etc., and has the same end result. Besides, sure, sec's wasting some of your time when processing you but it's not like prisoners didn't usually waste theirs with minor forms of resisting arrest that don't get put down on the record.

That being said shitcurity is cancer and one of the things that most pisses me off about MPs is how often they steal shit from command, medbay, or the prep rooms and justify it by saying they have access... you have all-access because you need to be able to chase anyone anywhere, not because the entire station belongs to you.

We must go further. We must waste more time.

Sounds like you and I need to come up with formatted text we can copy paste, so any and all personal items can be properly impounded for the duration of a prisoners stay. Furthermore some pre-formatted forms to fill out so the person's record can be properly updated with information pertaining to the arrest.

Failure to fill out these documents with pertenent evidence and information (victims, charges, time, witnesses, location) would help speed up the process for appeals. If somebody neglects to fill these out, the prisoner should be set free. This allows further interaction for civilian prisoners to follow up with the CL to see if W-Y would side on their behalf, giving the CL more fun paperwork to fax. Furthermore- repeated neglect of these duties should lead to a job ban.

This would make the job more realistic, and really require a prepared and dedicated individual to follow-through on your 2-5 minute arrest for something particularly minor.

This my friends- is how you create fun, fair, and divergent gameplay. Also, why have a record system if we don't use it.

Next up- extensive medical documentation, and billing of W-Y for medical procedures. A new class can be created in medical whose purpose is to manage insurance claims and make sure everything is billed properly. This can tie in with Req points if followed through- and also give bonuses to the doctor's salary.

Edit: added more fun gameplay ideas

Remember, as a CO/XO you can order MP's arrested. Have the MP's search each other for pistols before the briefing, proceed to see them brig one another.

Marine Law exists not only for Marines, but for MP's as well.
