Makes me Think of M.A.S.H. badooo dedooo de do do doooooooo.... de ba doooo ba dooo dooo doooooooo..... ba doooo dedoooo ba dooo doooo doooooooooooooo.... ba doooo de dooo dee dooo doooo dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Honestly I don't know why there isn't a sorta Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, or I guess it would be called Mobile Marine Surgical Hospital. Would keep the Doctors in the game if the war is far from the pods.

Doesn't fit lore and M.A.S.H. unit's typically weren't deployed where the enemy's were close. Especially not CM-in-your-face-throwing-a-hugger close.

Yeah that's true.

Still if there was a way of setting up a surgical room in a FOB, could work as a Strategy to a commander. I'm thinking late game. But that's more just wishful thinking on my part.

Looking at what others have wrote.
Pros being infected get treated, morale, lost limbs have benefit ground side
Cons being doctors in FOB is inefficient and risky.

I have been one of those doctors in the past to go to FOB (back when I was terrible as at medical).
Prefer being a Medic now. Does more for the team then a Doctor can on ground. If its a worse case scenario I send them up aka they are definitely infected. Otherwise, unless they broke every bone, I'm sending them back out full of painkillers.

So I say its up to the commander what strategy he wants to takes that is the deal breaker.

FOB doctors are only as reliable as the FOB itself. Since crushers can easily crush through FOB and it's defenses like it's nothing and Super FOBs are a thing of the past now due to engi nerf that is pointed out in General Discussion, FOB doctors are not good and is suicidal since marines nowadays get pushed very easily.

We is kinda true since till this day, beside Big Red, marine are always unable to at least hold back a wave of xeno's.

Thus far I've needed help from 4 FOB doctors, and every time they failed their jobs. I feel like being inside the FOB distracts them or something because 3 of the 4 either left wounds open to get infected, or didn't tell me I had something that needed to be fixed on the ship so they sent me on my merry way with brain damage or something that has put me into crit out of nowhere simply because they are busy talking or being distracted by the occasional runner getting toasted by a turret. While I do like the idea of shorter time for marines to get healed and back into action, I don't know if this is the way to do it.

Granted I usually either get lightly wounded so only a medic is needed or I strait up die, so my mileage for any sort of surgery or medbay-time is very low compared to most marines.

In my opinion fracture surgery is generally only critically needed if your feet or legs are fractured, as a fracture there will slightly slow down your movement speed even if splinted.

Otherwise a Marine can delay surgery for a long time if they get prompt medical treatment from a medic.

Having a doctor on the FoB can help in fixing some minor cases on the field instead of having a lot of people needlessly dragged off to the Almayer, as a medic I oft seen people dragging someone to the Almayer who only has one minor fracture in their arm and is otherwise in good enough condition to fight.
This is war, survival is your responsibility.

Why would you put a bottle of every type when you could do a pill bottle of every type and carry ten times the capacity?

I went FOB doctor once and it was the most exciting thing I have ever done as a MD. I don't think that I actually accomplished much but it was great fixing marines huddled against the wall of the robo-dome to the music of gunfire, agonizing screams and hunter pounces. That fucking lighting bug around the dropship of LV needs to go though, holy fuck.

I'd say on maps like Ice and Solaris sending a doctor down isn't much of a risk since LZ1 on these maps is generally Uber secure. Not too much risk of losing your doctor. LV on the other hand is Conductive to FOBs that are very dangerous.

Just to restate, this topic is more about "Should you keep your doctors on the ship so everyone gets work or send a doctor to the FOB where they take all the patients"
