I've been getting a little mixed opinions on this so I'll just ask it here. What is the limit on the commander's knowledge of medical chems? Is it the same as that of a doctor's or does he have a standard marine's knowledge of them as in, nothing but the basics? Seeing as how the commander also has to authorize these chems alongside the CMO, it'd make little sense if he had no idea as to what they did.

Nevermind, the new skill system cleared it up pretty well.

So I've been playing around with showers and noticed they would be cryo freezer cold or flame hot. Is using this system for ghetto cryogenics powergaming?
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Its a old SS13 trick to use showers either set to extremely cold as a ghetto cryo cell (usually when the power is out or there is a raging fire) or as a way to counter Changeling cryo stings when set to very hot.

That's the background anyway.

Question regarding marine law. Played round where the CE was acting like a doof and ordering plasteel and metal for himself, which cargo obliged him. I called him out on it and he ordered me arrested. thing was, I was an SO, and the wiki does NOT have the CE as higher than a SO. Ahelped and was told by Solidfury that it is iffy and contextual, but I feel it is something that REALLY needs some hard line to it. Also, mp staff obeyed and arrested me, which I thought they needed a fax for, and which the wiki does as well. So I guess just 2 main things: who does the CE outrank and do the MPs need a fax to arrest an SO

The wiki does state SOs out rank CEs, but I believe the CEs word is final when it deals with his department directly. Don't take my word for it though.

MPs only need to fax if they are going to arrest the commander, everyone else is free game.

Actually, in the wiki, it states that the CE is an lieutenant commander, the same rank as the XO.

Lieutenant Commander Outranks Lieutenant. Therefore, CE > SO as fishy as it sounds...

Yeah, he is a Lieutenant Commander, but the wiki ranks him lower for some reason. I always thought he was just a step below the XO.

That's for chain of command likely in operations for missions to combat scenarios. The SO knows more about what's going on in the ground operation or any space engagement as they've been in CiC, on the bridge, and/or they're communicating with the marines/squads deployed to ship bound crew. In actual rank the CE is on par with XO, both being Lt. commanders, however they focus upon different sections of duty. The XO focuses upon seeing the Commanding officer's orders through and managing the personal. The CE's duty is to the ship itself more likely than commanding marines on whatever mission/operation they're under going right away. The chain of command is also there for figuring out whom is to assume command, following the event the current or acting commanding officer is for any reason incapacitated/killed/ or otherwise unable to perform their duty as normal.

Mostly so that they know whom is in command and keep things running without a problem.

I'd just like to remind you all this isn't a discussion thread, you post here and then wait for an answer from the heads, if you think you've got the answer to someone's question keep it to PM's so you aren't filling this place up.

The CE outranks SO's in military rank, but not in succession of command. The CE has the same rank as the XO but the CE is more interested in the continued maintenance and operations of the actual ship, not it's crew.

This is an IC issue in game, a corrupt CE.

The only time MPs need to fax high command to brig an SO is if he is the current acting commander (ie, no XO and no CO, and other SOs have relinquished the responsibility to you previously).

What are the rules surrounding code green, blue and red?
Would it be reasonable to switch to code blue as soon as the mission starts because it's now on an operation, or might that be seen as powergaming because it's for a confirmed threat?

The alert codes directly imply they are for Almayer side, not planetside.

I imagine if Command raises the alert to Blue, or god forbid Red, alert before the Marines deploy then questions will be raised, as there's no possible threat to the ship at that time.

The crates in gun range, if the RO were to grab them for more points at roundstart. Would that go as powergaming or only as damage to goverment property and or theft as well?

Important round-start roles yes.

XO and Most chief role positions would be good examples.

How far can you(r character) go in harming others to save yourself?

Obviously you can't do something like kill a medic treating someone else so you can use his supplies on yourself, or fire back at someone FFing you, etc. But I've recently been warned for (after some time of having IB, a facehugger infection, and chest organ damage) opening an occupied cryo bag near the LZ and tossing its inhabitant out to use the bag for myself. This ended up killing the original occupant while saving me. To me these kinds of actions make sense. OOCly you trade one person playing the round for another so there isn't really a net negative to player enjoyment, ICly one character saves themselves at someone else's expense which makes way more sense than just standing around slowly dying so that someone else can live, who might not even be that wounded.

Obviously there's also the potential for abuse, people can intentionally get into lopsided "survival" situations to fuck up other peoples' rounds and such.

So in general, how selfish can you be? What's expected and what's forbidden?

To what extent can another player teach me something?

One time we were low on medics, so a field medic enlisted me to help while they worked on the more serious patients. They labled some pill bottles with things like FOR BRUTE or FOR BURN and I passed out one or two each while we did triage.

Another example was when I helped an engineer haul med vendors on Big Red after he showed me.

EORG = End Of Round Grief. Basically meaning hitting another Marine/Friendly after the round has ended.

This will happen even if you were fighting an enemy like a xeno or hostile ERT.

Best way to not getting banned by EORG is to not shoot at all. The round is after all ended.

Depends on how you do it. If you snuck on by cloaking as a hunter and walking on. That is fine. If you snuck on as a larva and hide under the chair. That is a big fat no and potential xeno ban, especially if you died.

If you're fighting hostiles (Xenos, CLF, UPP, etc) after the round ends, it's not EORG. Only works on friendlies

In the case that a xenomorph decides to kill you as a survivor at roundstart, is that breaking rules or is it okay?
