That's not how it is. You melt down the metal so that you can SAVE points by not having to order metal. Play as a CT a few times and you pick up that stuff is overpriced and there isn't really a way to get your value back on everything. When you have to order 2 sentries so the marines don't lose (that's 240 points I believe since one is 120 but correct me if i'm wrong) 10 points for metal is just a bloody waste. You have a limited amount of crates that you can send for points and I'm still not even sure if sending back stamped documents actually gives you points or not. But even if what I read is right, stamped documents only gives you 1 point per document. So that's pretty trash too.Tidomann wrote:Most of the time those get melted down. Then command staff wonders why they can't get guns from req.
Then people still want explosives, Sadar. Then they want sandbags. Then they want metal. And your hurting on points so you go snag two bags of pistols for more metal.

Re: Remove Gun Recycling
Yeah, but I mean, when your trying to adhere to non-powergame of stealing guns from prep it's practicaly impossible.
Like you said if you don't melt down metal Requissitions is going to have a rough game. Plus if you can save on 3 orders if metal that's now 30 units of plasteel or Sadar.
As it stands it's basically an assumed step to take as RO/CT, but it shouldn't be.

Re: Remove Gun Recycling
-1 to removing gun recycling, and to lowering the metal returned per weapon.
Alternative suggestion: lower number of guns present, readjust cargo point costs as needed.
Recycling guns fits a sticky situation.
TLDR:
So, what do we got?
- Recycling is a cool side feature to the game. Smart players can use it to get ahead, and desperate players can use it for desperate needs. Both really cool stuff.
- Recycling is very boring if done by itself. The act of dragging items into vendors, or shift right clicking dozens of objects is a boring mechanic. Amazing mechanic if done under pressure of say, life or death. Boring as shit if done as a basic task.
- There are wayyy too many guns on the ship. No ship should have 9 weapons per soldier, that ratio is insane.
- The amount of metal you get from smelting guns is appropriate, and therefore, not a problem. If your melting something as vital as a gun, you should get some good value back.
- Cargo points likely need of readjusting, and should probably have more dynamic ways of generating supplies overall, maybe.
- Cargo techs need more engaging tasks to do on ship, but the same can be said of many ship-based roles.

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

Re: Remove Gun Recycling
Accepted but we're not going to completely remove the ability to recycle guns. We'll decrease the metal received for recycling guns and decrease the cost for a metal crate order to compensate.
