Flamethrowers kill them extremely quickly, but what I've found to be MOST successful against them is AP rounds on an open field. Zombies can normally tank tens of regular rounds but AP rounds put them down extremely quickly. For the M39 in particular you can probably magdump a zombie and it'll still be alive but all it takes is 6 or 7 M39 AP rounds and it's dead.

Not taking AP in a zombie round is stupid. The zombies often have the same armor as us so they are really good at tanking normal rounds but eat shit in the face of AP. I'd hope anyone who uses these forums for tips is robust enough to know when and when not to shoot to avoid 99% of FF. Better for you to have the AP and not the unrobust baldies who can't aim for shit and will probably just drink the first tube of black goo they find.

Or you folks can just aim for the head, with standard rounds as well, they lose their helmets once they turn, you don't need to use AP rounds.

can you blow a zombie's legs or feet off with gunfire and thus remove their boots, or are they locked onto their body at that point? consider it, if so. and scatter around the shrapnel that falls out of them. their poor feet still get hurt and make them fall down if they dont wear boots, i think.

also, so you don't waste your time with it like i did, sadly, you can't gib multiple corpses with plastic explosives by stacking a bunch of them onto the same square. at least, i think it still only gibbed one body. still, keep plastic explosives in mind. im not sure what other sources of them there are, but 4 in each engi prep x 4 squads = 16 fewer zombies nipping at your heels. just... find some space cleaner to tidy up what's left.

Well, from my experience,flamers are ridiculously effective against the zombies, and buckshot is the most annoying thing to face as a zombie, and anecdote, in one of the earlier tests, I was a PMC with a smartgun. I got separated from the rest of the PMC's by a combination of zombies and emergency shutters, and was alone with like 15 or so zombies. I managed to hold out for a fair while with my smartgun, especially when only one or two were up at a time, but I was eventually swarmed and died as was the foregone conclusion.
