F1 to let a staff memeber know then designate the next in the chain of command as acting commander. Usually that is the XO but if there isn't an XO the CO job would be to ensure there is a smooth transition to whoever it is. Theoretically after the XO the next in line would be the Chief Engineer, however for gameplay purposes it may be easier to choose a SO to lead. After a successor is chosen the CO then cryos.

Yeah that's fair. Kinda irritated that two of those down votes came from a bad round for me on ice colony where I had the wrong map but at least it hit he 15 vote minimum which I didn't think was going to happen
