I think skillsets should at least be visible to the survivor. I realize I can guess that if you spawn with doctors, engineer, or marshal clothes what you can do, but what the hell is the skillset of a survivor in pajamas. It shouldn't be a guessing game to know what you are capable of. You don't have amnesia.

Do the secret monkey technique.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Re: How the hell does one survive as a survivor?
To be honest I just beeline towards wherever I know weapons are at. Chances are that other survivors also would also be there because weapons. I managed to group up with two other survivors and we managed to kill two aliens before the marines came.
Phillip Driver, jack of all trades, reliable in some. Your typical jumpy flamer PFC or ammo fumbling CPL, always has a pair of ballistic goggles on him for unknown reasons. Will probably die mid sentence, because he talks (and gets bullied) too much for his own good. He has his moments though.
Jim, a Gen 2 Synthetic. Has a tendency to get melted to bits when planet side, and that's when he's behind barricades. Despite that, he's vigilant and always ready to drag you out of danger, even if it damages him in the process.

Re: How the hell does one survive as a survivor?
Maybe code it so that for every 25 players a survivor slot opens with a minimum of 3. So rounds with 100-124 players have 4 survivors, 125-149 have 5, and so on.davidofmk771 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2017, 00:13I don't like that survivors are (afaik) hardcapped at 3. This is pretty much a death sentence during 120+ rounds, especially on maps like Big red where there's nothing blocking the queen from screeching and crippling the survivors that manage to find each other. I think the cap should be raised to 5 for high-pop rounds (120-150 players). Survivor RP always makes me happy, the story of a bunch of rag-tang underdogs doing anything and everything they can to stave off the horrible that killed everyone they know.

Re: How the hell does one survive as a survivor?
Surviving isn't actually too hard if the xenos are shit.
Atleast on LV first thing you should try doing is heading to the Marshal's Office there are guns along with a high chance of survivors. This also means most xenos will rush to check it because xenos can't meta.
If you're fast enough you can easily pick up a shotgun and a revolver, keep the revolver on your waste, if you want armor inside the Marshal's Locker there is a set and you can bust it open with just the slugs already in the shotgun. Then what you'll want to do is grab the buckshot and leave, put the shotgun on your armor.
Next you'll most likely want to head to Tcomms, and get a headset on the off chance another survivor picks up a headset. If you weren't able to get a gun yet there is a tiny shack north west of LZ-2 with a double barrel which you can saw off to fit on your waist.
Edit: If you're lucky enough to have the engineer skillset if you want to bunker down inside of Medbay there is a stack of metal and plasteel. Xenos can't meta so they usually go there to melt that though along with all the med vendors. On the off chance you're insane you can also head to Engineering and try to get the power on, a lot of survivors usually revolve around there as well, if you got the metal from Medbay you could proper set yourself up a nice little autism fort, if you have friends too I've just told you where to get two shotguns and revolvers so all of them should have a gun with a good amount of ammo.
From there you just need to keep mobile, look for other survivors and keep away from high xeno traffic areas.

If you can't robust your way to victory, you can always get really creative with your hiding places. lockers are terrible, everyone checks those, but wooden barricades, dead bodies, bushes, they all work. mostly. and if they don't work and your found, don't fight. let them take you peacefully, make sure to beg and spam *cry and maybe, just maybe the queen will spare you for some sick af xeno RP
