Re: NOT IT syndrome: A regular issue among xenos
The biggest problem with being a queen isn't the strategy and tactics, which honestly aren't that complicated, it's the endless, bitter crybaby salt of ungrateful underlings. WAAAH WAAAH QUEEN HEAL ME WAAAH WAAAH QUEEN DETACH WAAAH WAAAH QUEEN DON'T DETACH STUPID QUEEN REE WHYD YOU LET ME DIE. Fucking abominable. There needs to be an option to mute the entire hive or at least deafen yourself to it.
Honestly the way the queen works now it should just be an NPC that randomly heals and shits out eggs at a set timer.
edit: actually, automating healing would go a long way towards desalting the queen role. You could set it to regularly (heal most wounded tier 3 / heal critted xenos / heal most wounded tier 1) that would be fun. It would free you up to actually observe and give orders rather than just panic healing constantly. Imma make a github about that later.

the stupid direct heal magic is a bad addition. people spend half their time begging for queen to cast cure serious wounds or bitching because she was too slow in doing so to save some dumb ass who shouldnt have been letting themselves get shot up in the first place. it distracts from the queen's guidance and observation duties

I love xeno but I'd never want to play queen because I play CM to have fun, not be stressed out by 30 people yelling at me for breathing.
Ive seen how brutal hives can be to a bald queen, I'm just not ready for that kinda thing
I play as Evan Haynes.
Mostly main xeno, though.

Main reason for me is that im too afraid of fucking up as a Queen. Personally, i have never gotten bitched at for the heals, It's not that common as you think, You only get bitched at if you shed your ovi without a good reason
On top of it, i am more of a Frontliner, like, you know, i'd rather be spitting shit at the marines or harassing and slashing the shit out of them than being in the hive yelling at the drones for not planting the fucking eggs or building forward nests
I did have fun playing as Queen so far, no shit rounds, i would do it more often if i didn't find it kind of monotone

Re: NOT IT syndrome: A regular issue among xenos
I don't mind being a queen, unless I'm the first queen. I've been queen twice already, and was quite clutch for benos everytime I was a queen. My problem is that benos keep trying to be risky, trying to get their play of the game so much that when they died before I could even pay attention to them, they get salty.
I actually really like it, and could imagine myself starting out as queen some day. But I just can't imagine any tactics to give, any useful info to really add.

Rather than giving tactics to your fellow benos, you are there to watch over them and give them useful information through your zoom and every xeno you see. Let's say you see a ravager fighting a pred, but he obviously can't stop to write the location because he will get fucked. Being an overwatch queen is not that hard tbh, what is kind of hard is when you see yourself forced to go down to the battlefield, the hive always looks up on you and expect you to KNOW what the hell you are doing down there.DefinitelyAlone0309 wrote: ↑20 Feb 2018, 18:59I don't mind being a queen, unless I'm the first queen. Best tip i can give you if you start as a queen is don't get cocky, and try your hardest to do not go down and fight them until you are elite empress

Playing Queen got 10 times more easier now since you dont have to manage your plasma to lay eggs.
Played her 5 times since the update and only using exactly one braincell i pounded the marines everysingle time.

Re: NOT IT syndrome: A regular issue among xenos
Queen is both easier than before and harder.
Easier because you are for the most part going to be stationary popping out eggs and healing on Overwatch. Harder because people expect you to be psychic 99% of the time.
I think the new queen has benefitted rounds and made them more interesting and not just screech, charge, run, repeat from before.
A tip for Queens that I find works well:
You don't always need to be telling everyone exactly what you think they should be doing. Give broad, sweeping statements and instructions for the team as a whole and mostly let them make their own decisions. Only issue direct and immediate orders if it's urgent (a marine flanking team getting close to you) you want to remain in Ovi for as long as physically possible. Because once you de-Ovi it is hard to re-establish a position due to shifting natures of the battlefield.
Don't get overly cocky. You aren't a physical manifestation of a tank with your pheromones. Which we all remember from when the changes were originally implemented with an ancient empress literally taking no damage from 5 marines and a turret pelting her constantly. When you do fight, go in, screech and slash a few marines once or twice (target groin) slashing a few marines once or twice is more effective than slashing one marine to death and running back.
Overall don't be afraid to take on the responsibility and remember you never improve at anything unless you try it!

Re: NOT IT syndrome: A regular issue among xenos
I feel like we've transcended to a new level with all the Queen changes. Instead of there being a lack of volunteers we have too many unprepared players that want to be the almighty incarnation of death(A false idea, perpetuated by those REALLY good players that wipe out squads with a little help and basic tactics) but aren't prepared for the challenges of being held responsible for your team's performance.
I like to think of myself as a Queen main. If I can play as Queen, sign me the fuck up I don't care how bad things are I bet I can salvage them. I enjoy commanding my xenus and occasionally ripping some marines new assholes. It'll still never be any less frustrating when I get shit on by salty players that hold me accountable for their mistakes. You died because I didn't heal you? Maybe if you had retreated to heal like I said five fucking times, psychic whispering you personally twice and using the Queen announcement you would have survived.

Why would you want to play the leader of the losing side?
Plus being stuck in the new queen thing leads to less frags
