It's not THAT hard... to stabilize someone. I have it set up so I can do it in one click (10u tricord, 5u bicard, they will heal, even out of crit). You just need to make SURE that you're moving the guy back to safety before treating him fully, as treatments on the firing lines are awkward at the best of times..
Personally as medic, I never shoot, unless I am the only person left standing. My rationale behind that decision is that you can either be a medic, or a standard, and any time you're shooting at ayys is time you aren't saving people. Standards can do all the shooting that has to be done, I'll be busy stabilizing/tending to light-green people/restocking my tricord injectors.
Bonus comment- I think the new tramadol autoinjectors are the worst thing ever for medics.
Oh, they aren't BAD per-se, just now people take them instead of tricord injectors, cause that's what the pouch comes with. They get scratched/burnt, inject, and don't seek a medic immediately, and don't notice until the painkiller effect runs out, which leads to- broken bones (cause the arm was at 15 damage, and one more slash did it...), blood loss (cause it was bleeding for the last 10 minutes), and infection/INSTA-paincrit (cause that spitter sniping you kept racking up the hits...).
