I don't know if it went through, but I remember a round where the CMP was BE'd for refusing to release the CL (who was arrested and in the brig) to W-Y PMCs there to retrieve him. The MPs were split in agreeing/disagreeing with the BE, but lacking a CMP and precedent I don't think anything happened with HC about it.

Probably the main problem with why it doesn't happen is the rarity of BEs, the situations in which they happen, and the fact I doubt a lot of MPs don't even know about it/will do it if they got the chance.
That should be seen as interfering with an arrest.

Ah, that is a memorable one.

I think I was the CO in that event. The reason I went so far during that event was due to the threats the PMCs were making. I knew that if I didn't obey their orders, they's shoot up the place and kill a lot of people. But the CMP refused due to his legal beliefs. I ordered him several times to listen to the PMCs and gave him plenty of time to change his mind, but he stood firm. So, between having one man die and a lot of people dying, I chose to kill one man over many. I didn't want to do it, and I hate doing BEs in general, but sometimes you gotta do what you think is best.

Ironically enough, he rather enjoyed it. Probably helped that I didn't just insta-BEd him on the spot, though. That is the issue with BEs in general: The whole suddenness of it all is what pisses people off. If people got warning or threats, then they would understand, but if it just happens out of the blue, people get pissed.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

I do remember that there was some great RP leading up to the BE and showing how a Non- sudden BE would happen. Fun and good RP leading up to it from the WO, CO and in a more existential threatening jock manner the PMCs.

It certainly didn't help the PMCs cocked their guns once or twice and took up positions around the CO, WO, and MP or two there.

I'll also make note the WO knew he'd be BEd but in the name of the USCMJ stuck with his decision. I'd say the MPs had a good chance in a appeal to HC about a unlawful act of the CO. Would've been interesting I'm sure. Lots of room for the CO to support his act and just as much for the MPs to argue it was an illegal series of acts/order. Sadly 'twas not to be.

I was the Chief MP. This was before pardoning prisoners was strictly illegal. I was completely fine with the execution and have always used it as an example of how Battlefield executions can create interesting situations and RP, thereby making the game more enjoyable.

That said, had I been an MP I would've faxed High Command immediately for that BE.
I used to play Luke Compton. Now I play Reginald Dempsey.
