Re: The Vanguard: Manual to Frontline combat.
Just realized I’m mentioned.
Can confirm.
I still am a god tier in vanguard level FF
/——/
Also.
Dolthgar made a good point.
Marines, IMO good ones, should often know when their contribution doesn’t help and it’s be more worth it to expend effort on another part of the battlefield (read flank) then to continue pushing the crowded 2x2 entrance or 4x4 entrance covered by boilers/crushers
From my experience in Co an SL, pushing overcrowded chokepoints tends to fail in the long term. Multiple flanks are always better and get kills + ground.
Full front assaults just result in FF, loss of momentum, mass wounded, mass dead. Not a good trade off as while you might eventually gain ground, the real kicker is getting kills. Taking a position is dandy. Losing a critical number of marines and then losing the long game isn’t.

Have initiative, marines! If there is none? Make it yourself!

Re: The Vanguard: Manual to Frontline combat.
Any ideas on a decent balancing act as a Vanguard Medic? A few times I ended up on the Vanguard as a medic. However I often die and/or result in others getting killed trying to do my job when things go badly.
From reflecting on my mistakes, you can NEVER drop your backpack and get down to it. You always need to be moving. Only exception is if you manage to stumble upon a triage zone that was established by other medics. So how are you supposed to keep people alive when you barely have time to stop to stabilize or revive? Best thing I can think of is just stasis bag or drag a lucky corpse with you on a roller bed until you can find a chance to catch your breath.

Re: The Vanguard: Manual to Frontline combat.
as a Vanguard medic you can never stop moving that's correct. Sadly, frontline combat ain't the best way to attend marines so my advice would be pills. Use drugs to give marines a chance to fall back into the actual triage and focus only on the dead ones / really fucked up (Drag and bail). Don't lose time with whiners that scream medic just because they got spat a few times THEY SHOULD be carrying a first aid pocket.Garrison wrote: ↑24 Nov 2018, 16:16Any ideas on a decent balancing act as a Vanguard Medic? Can I get in the list of role models? I'm pretty good, managed to kill myself with a shrapnel nade once.
