I second the reverse map idea. Having to stage a siege of an Infected Almayer from the ground could actually be pretty neat.

Noir version.
Everyone has Noir visions force enable and can't be turned off including xenos (basically you are all color blind).
Marine equipments sprites are replaced with sassy fedoras, bowlers, tophats, suit jackets, waistcoat and tuxedos all to choose over their default marine armors and helmets. The guns are also replaced with Freelancers guns due of them being more or less old era outdated weaponry out of others and so ever. The Almayer might also changed the atmospheric to be more suitable of noire movie. Let it be giant Space Bar Ship full of wooden floor, chair and table with the jazz music on midi jukebox. The Commander, could they be either the fearsome godfather smoking cigar with their unique uniform or a wonderful lady singer over the stage of what used to be briefing room that commands all with her sparkling dress.

Marine. Or now known to be as the bunch of Mafia-like. Having still the different squads Alpha to Delta with the color of their ties or whatever they are wearing visible over the Noir Vision effect. Have their plans to take over the Xeno-Family's turf. The dropship could also be rework but that's unnecessary.

The Xeno at the another hand. Starting as larvas with fedora on their head and their Queen probaby wearing as well the unique one OR having her sprite reworks wearing sparkling lady dress with her Screech sound effect replace with some random woman singing blues or whatever fits. Every xeno are to be wearing their fedoras or bowlers just like Christmas event where they be wearing santa hats.
