Here's the strat:
Split your 59 marines into 4 squads of 15 or so marines, figure out the general area where the queen is and get the queen flanked between two squads. Sooner or later she will retreat into a squad with 40% hp and they will get a chance to kill her. As you begin to box her in, you can put up barricades in 2-tile wide areas.
My general experience playing queen is you die when you retreat into another group of marines with low health who flanked you without you knowing, or when you run into a barricade and the marines chasing you are able to catch up, and you go to crit if you slash the barbed wire on it.
A squad of 15 marines shouldnt give a couple xenos a chance to drag away any marines (which slows the xeno dragging), so their numbers are limited, sooner or later you should also get some lucky shots and kill some of those xenos as well, i.e sooner or later someone will point blank buckshot a xeno, that is also hit by a rifle bullet or two and a smartgun shot.

Man I don't even like ice. It's too easy up til LZ1, and LZ2 has unbreakable walls where it would otherwise be easy.
One thing I've never seen is Marines trying to secure a ladder on both z-levels (mainly the bottom) I mean sure you can put up as many barricades as you want up top, but if you are having a staring contest with Xenos below, you're not really helping in any way. Sure you deny them going up that one ladder but that's not as important as you getting one secure ladder to go down, since they'll just go up another. Enough using the elevators they don't work.

I play Xeno 99% of the time. All castes.

Re: I need advice for Ice.
It's super hard to secure one ladder because all the ladders in "favourable" places are usually instantly camped by the xenos. For example, the engineering ladders usually get immediately set-up by a drone and a carrier with sticky resin galore and resin holes/eggs everywhere. Same with the aerodrome ladders. Nobody wants the whole marine force to deploy in a two way corridor so the bar ladder and ladder near research suck. And even if a small force comes down to secure the ladder, young runner 360 instantly alerts the hive and then the whole hive is suddenly on that position.Reuben Owen wrote: ↑02 Jul 2018, 11:56Man I don't even like ice. The northern dorm ladder is pretty good and I don't think I have ever seen anyone use it. Leads to a big room which leads to one of the main hallways and a one tile wide entry to the maintenance tunnels which lead to the caves.
It's also only one wall away from the most common hive position. Xeno's almost never defend it or put traps there.

The issue with that JJG is... it's a ladder. Ladders are death windmills for marines. Also I often see nests down there with sents/warriors guarding it. No thanks!

Ladders as bad as they are still sound preferable to elevators. Oh god the elevators. So much death. At least you cant accidentally fall down a ladder because some guy pushed a button
