This, the egg part most of all.Garrison wrote: ↑29 Oct 2018, 16:08I still think people underestimate just what a carrier can bring to the hive. They can transport several eggs at once. (Your not always going to have a tunnel to get from point A to B.) and they can greatly reduce the risk in capturing marines since they can infect while on the frontlines. Allowing their unconscious bodies to be easily killed brought back to a secure location with minimal risk to the Xenos or the host.
The carrier's job isn't just to be a frontline infecter, they are also a very capable egg mule that can carry up to 5 eggs (plus one for each age up) at a time and scatter them where they are needed most. Having eggs near the fighting is as valuable as a carrier on its own, because then ANY xeno will be able to drag marines to their doom to the nearest egg, and if there are some combat drones there, they'll have a steady supply of eggs to work with, able to get hit and run infections with ease.
A good carrier knows the importance of hauling eggs to the front line, for the benefits are many, and the risk to one's personal health is quite low! After all, carriers are squishy, they shouldn't be charging into the heat of battle to infect. Instead, just give your fellow xenos some eggs and make them do all the infecting for you!
You'd be surprised how many infections you can get that way.
