Okay for creative engineering, ive got a few ideas, but i gotta say, the most important thing about being a military engineer is to:

1. Inhibit the enemies movement

2. Make your own troop movements easier.

Things like creating light posts, sectioning the map, and creating xeno movement inhibitors are the best things an engineer can do.

In the mid-days, we used to toss up electric fences to stop runners and drones from mucking about with the dropship crews. Used to grind out massive amounts of metal for the ground side.

Planted camera networks, cut through dozens of walls to lock off areas. hmm, yah, alot of that stuff.

Now that barb wire is here, you can use it to create 3x3 areas of no pounce zones. Those are fucking amazing in the middle of open areas that marines have to sneak through. have 2 or 3 of them in a semi scattered area, and congrats, You solved a major problem of marines, Preventing lonely troops from being pounced and killed while they were walking to/from combat zones.

Toss some electric fences on the sides of a battle to secure your flanks with cheap resources. Etc.

During ship side combat, weld down the emergency shutters to create walled off zones for safety. Repair broken APC's and get the lights working for the marines and Doctors.

Make it so Doctors can come down to the battlefield and do surguries.

THese are all engineer goals.

- Are the Choke points locked down? I.e why cover 100 places with metal, if you know the enemy is going down one or two roads. Build walls in front of unused doorways. The only thing that can destroy walls are crushers and melters, and those are going to be fighting in the front lines rather than wasting time on the side lines.

- Is power up? Fix some APC's, so you can have cheap light tubes illuminating the area. There is no better light source than the Light Tube. it has an insane 7+ by 7+ radius. Thats 5 permanent flares, or 2 gunlights.

- Are there table and chairs around? chew those up for some quick metal, or turn them into reinforced tables on the cheap. (Reinforced tables are still very strong, and for something thats almost free, its worth tossing everywhere.)

- camera networks: boom, CIC loves you baby.

- Barb wire bollocks. individual barb wire barricades { -x--x--x-} where x is a single barricade, and - is the tile runners get cucked on. Protects the rear retreat area extremely well.
Gaze upon me,
for I have wandered deep into the ancient tombs of knowledge to which lie madness and sorrow, cleansing a path for all those who walk behind me...

...

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

~Furthermore, I consider that Floodlights should no longer be destroyed.~

supply costs seem tight these days. you need supplies to experiment with if youre going to get creative with anything, and you rarely have such a luxury.
