You've worked out the secret.

They generally roll this type of stuff out before huge reworks, you've been here for a while so you'll notice the pattern.

Remember the outrage when AP was removed from vendors. Or cloning was removed.


I could go on and on but normally it's part of a larger rework, I can see people being frustrated but at the end of the day, the majority of improvements have been great in the long term, even if they're a bit shit right now..

I still think marines are in a strong position now than they have been in a long, long time tbh.

With the update today that made M39, and M41A ammo able to go in backpacks again but not shotgun boxes. Really makes it seem like the devs really do not like shotgun players

It's' well-known that the staff all love to play as xenos/MPs, so nerfing shotguns into the ground is probably the next step after making it that you can't carry shotgun ammo boxes.

My real question for realism is
Why the delay though?
I mean they are trained marines after all I don't think that in the middle of a FOB they'd forget how to even hold their guns just cause they put them in their suit inventory and then put them back in their suit inventory only to go and forget again how to hold their gun properly, gameplay wise this would've required a lot more coding to be somewhere near as good as you guys have wanted it to be, I get the ambushes but still in FOBs or after a queen screech while on the frontlines it just doesn't make much sense.
I get the ammo nerf will help req and it will, "increase communication with req," but there wasn't any good communication to begin with and you're mainly just encouraging even longer matches due to marines now wanting to camp and hold an area instead of push at all cause well, I really doubt that you can get a SB while underground on ICE or in the caves on Big Red.
This feels more like a way to make an already OP as hell due to 100% invisible whilst moving even Lurker even more powered cause now marines can't even fight back and adding a lot more power to the ancient spitter neuro minigun that was already enough to take down a FOB portion for another spitter to acid everything open

The crusher being able to stop the tank has been a much needed change. Good to see it finally implemented.

It was not a needed change at all. Crushers are invincible, if they got run over by the tank they are just bad and should not be playing.

I always thought as a marine main crushers and queens should never be able to get run over by a tank
Maybe ravagers but ehh I don't really see one of them being able to hold back a tank, but queen and crusher shouldn't be crushed by a tank so I can agree with that at the very least with this update
But that was before marines forgot how their guns worked

Honestly I haven't seen a dev team do shit like this very often. Trickling out pieces of what is supposed to be a big balance change is just... really fucking stupid, to be blunt. Look at how any other game does this—free or not, they make a single BIG patch instead of doing many small patches that just fuck up balance and make everyone (on the marine side) mad.

Agreed. In all honesty I was hoping they would do this for the queen, since the queen has become a complete meme with the tank update. The fact that it applies to crushers too surprised me but it's nice to see that xenos actually have some counter to the tank now, we'll see far fewer tanks going one to one with a whole hive now - or at least we'll see them suffer consequences for it.

Most importantly though, with this update maybe it will head off the growing Almayer endgame meta where the xenos just camp top deck if the tank is still up, and it turns into a 3 hour waiting game to see who blinks first.

Not to be rude, but it sounds like you don't really understand the development process.

You want the developers to push out big changes....to reduce the "fucking up of balance. If they do that, it'll have the opposite effect.

The larger the change, the more impact it'll have on the balance.

We don't have a test server (Because it'd be useless, really), nor do smaller quality control tests with a TINY sample size work when you put them against a server of 100-200 people.

The patch, even if given a good amount of quality control and though will have some unexpected concequences, marines and xenos are creative, certain things wont be accounted for, or simply, bugs occur.


Sure, sometimes shit sucks and the balance may be scewed by the small changes, but they're also pretty quick to fix due to the fact you're addressing say, 1-5 issues, rather than a HUGE patch full of unexpected issues.


Anyway, The quickest and best way to develop content is to use the main population as player-testers. It's a double edged sword, but because the developers at the end of the day are volunteers, this isn't a triple AAA studio, or even a smaller studio with time and resources to place in to other things.

Considering you joined in 2018, I doubt you know very much about the history of CM and the changes undergone

If you looked at 2016 to 2018, the game is night and day, it's a completely different game (and the community was completely different back then too).

I play medic, and I mostly treat people, so a lot of the combat stuff doesn't really affect me and I don't know enough about the combat mechanics to really voice an opinion.

But I like the ammo changes. People complaining about MUH AMMO IN BAGS... really? Most PFCs don't carry bags anyway so they can carry double the unga. If you're a medic and you're carrying ammo in your bag, you are objectively wrong. Engineers, contrary to popular belief, aren't PFCs and shouldn't be carrying as much ammo as them. Specialists have their special back items for carrying their ammo. SLs have their bags, but it's almost always filled with SL gear. Ammo still fits in webbings. So what I really want to know is who's complaining?

Ammo boxes make my RO life way easier.

People wouldn't voice complaints if they hated the game they'd just leave, as you said. People who voice complaints want the best for the game.

The devs are making a very common mistake that developers make: they see that something is overused and assume that it must be OP, rather than everything else being too weak.
