How about a compromise to avoid griefing where you can choose in preferences to display your Ckey or not. That way if people feel like they will get bullied or something they can remain anonymous. If they think it makes RP worse or whatever they can remain anonymous.

That's a nice compromise. Just have the option of turning on/off the ckey in hive status/message so that players can choose for themselves. If someone's getting roasted a bit too hard, they can remain anonymous when needed.

The biggest problem is that when a Xeno is shown to be some robust static name then the queen might reserve evolutions for them. That no name might not get his T2/T3 slot or get devolved because the queen knows the CKey of some other Xeno who could play the evo better.

make tier 1 not suck and then its not a problem. either way like I said earlier you can whitelist queens if you have to. I know when im queen I wont show favoritism but I know im not everyone.

Another idea if you care about evolutions being fair and all that then just make the queen beable to limit how many of each caste or evolution but not devolve people. it fixes the problem of not getting 10 lurkers and keeps queens from metaing evolutions.

Well, you can both make T1s not suck and just simply punish the queen player for doing that. Also, contrary to what you might think, people are generally good towards you if you truly want to learn. It's the silent evolutions that kill the hive. If someone just straight up says they want to learn to play something, whether in IC or LOOC, most people will give it to them.

Marine rolls depend entirely on RNG. RNG doesn't give a shit if you're known or not. And while you can get benefits from being well known, you're also focused on by aliens, so it's a trade-off.

On the xeno side, A new player might not be able to experience being a T2/T3 because the queen decided to give the role to another, presumably better, player. Marines won't be able to see your name either, so you won't get focused on which is a huge buff.

I disagree with showing any names or ckeys, favoritism and elitism is a big deal, why not save the time to do that and all the drama around it to actually work on revamping/improving xeno side gameplay so that players actually enjoy it and stick around as a xeno.

also, even if you do, never show any ckeys. remember characters can be changed, but not ckeys.

The majority of concerns are coming from marine mains on very hypothetical situations and concerns, which could easily be addressed or currently exist on the marine side but are allowed because the benefit outweighs the drawbacks.

I do think having custom name feature of some kind would be a better step for the alien community, as it stands now, it lacks any sense of community beyond the somewhat chaotic and anonymous meme factory that are the Aliens. I think it could add some accountability for aliens who ignore the Queen also.

The explosion mechanics are really good. Kinda hate them as a Xeno, but you know, salt and all.

Wouldnt it be more productive instead of showing ckeys, maybe make it like a kind of reward system in a way.Where the xenoes are still numbered, but xenoes that have survived previous rounds showing they were a asset to the hive get lower numbers, the lower the number, the better the xeno player is.If you die, your number increases and if you live you get closer to the number 1 spot.Something along them lines.

Abit more involved on making it work, but it would probably have a better outcome than just showing ckeys as a way of xeno accountability.Maybe the lowest xeno slots/ranks 1, 2 and 3 could even have permanent leader status by default as a reward for their work for the hive, the same leader status the queen can apply.

"OHH MY GOD, SISTER 1 HAS AWOKEN!!"

Would almost be like a Commander, Admiral or XO coming down, perfectly inspiring and rallying the marines to a swift victory.

I would much prefer to see the option for a xeno to choose a preference for their digits (to avoid the bulk of the elitism concern), but thank you for giving some variation of this a go

I prefer it the way it is, with the complete anonymity. Sometimes you just want to fuck around and pounce at marines as a runner without it affecting your chances of being allowed ravager in a later game, you know? I wouldn't want a new player devolved from a role they want to try out because they 'stole' the slot from a better player either.

So your argument boils down to a deontological, thoroughly unsubstantiated personal belief. Got it.

In my opinion, going out of your way to set this false double standard is just damaging to the community and gameplay. Don't categorically oppose benefits to one side or another based on whatever faction you happen to play. In this case, that benefit is almost exclusively a quality of life benefit aimed at building a better xenos community... this proposed change will have almost zero effect upon the marines (except, perhaps, more team-focused gameplay, similar to how marines might listen to a good SL), and your opposition to it is based almost solely out of spite.

Lore is second to gameplay.

Besides we aren't even respecting lore in this game... if we were, Xenos would be individually frail. But due to gameplay limitations, look at where we are. I don't care about lore if I get better gameplay and neither should you.
