Heavy armor would only be good on medics who are not evacing people by hand. Other then that it would be a bigger noob trap then packing a pistol or smg.

Alright, i think even if you desagree with this, you can at least agree that speed is actually good, and having at least some different armor options or armor attachments would be actually good for the game. Not to the point of making it too OP of course or powergame friendly, as WinterCloud mentioned (people only choosing one type of armor because is best).

Adding it to Req is the only way for marines to get it? Besides, Req is being closed becouse they got another attachement that you can't strap on your gun?

One additional pocket, a slighty faster marine, a sligthy more armored on limbs marine, etc. It won't cause xenos to die, or lose unlike guns where BC on a barrel matters a lot.

Put it in the same vendor and let armor "hold" only one attachement. Thanks to that it's only one more attachement in "to do" list, so it won't slow Req down too much.

Weapons attachements...

Remove them, then Req will never close again!

honestly, I worry about this whole concept of speed over anything else...

When you really think about it, the fact that marines aren't that agile at least creates SOME incentive to stick together and utilize numbers to compensate for our lack to effectively 1v1 a xeno. But if everyone could easily outrun a xenomorph, then it might just end up hurting squads as a whole, to the point that there is no reason to have squad tactics and teamwork: Just run around like sanic and rack up as many kills as you can.

We already had a version of the game where marines were easily outrunning xenos in the past, or chasing them down without struggle. I was there. It was the reason why the devs put it in, because marines are supposed to use numbers and ranged weapons to compensate for what they lack. Xenos are supposed to be the fast melee fighters.

The moment we make marines speedy with a range advantage, then we go right back to pre-armor nerf: Xenos will struggle to compete.

And if that happens, I can imagine the compensating buffs for xenos aren't going to be pretty.

We shouldn't make marines faster. Simple as that. Being slow sucks dick but it's a key part of balance you can see just by watching robust speed marines reck ass.

It's like in Airsoft how those fuckers running two hicap mags and their gun or just a pistol and Jack shit else can fucking book it around the field tearing ass left and right because all the RP types are fucked trying to leg it with a full chest rig of midcaps and whatever else they've got stored for their kit. You can play to meta, but people ain't always gonna like you for it when you're just skirting around like an asshole lone working it and whatnot. People get salty irl at that shit like people get salty here.

I just ran light kits irl because I'm poor af. Run speed loadouts in CM because I never did the meta shotgun buckshot memes so I balanced myself for my own fun.

Buckshot meme is ok, double buckshot is even better for those sweet sweet insta kills...Until you get cucked by a single sentinel/spitter.

Double buckshot feels like people just doing something ridiculous. People would never do something like that realistically, just seems silly. Or maybe I've grown to just dislike unrealistic memes to much in my old age. I might be the one out of line for disliking it like I do, but pistols seem like the only thing a real person could dual weld.

Don't call it "realism", call it "believability". I can belive barrel charger could exist, but it's not realistic for Stock to slow your fire rate. Weapon is alive and can feel stock?

helo here is my bugfix update

*standard marine armor encumbrance removed
*lowered base speed of all humans to speed they would have if wearing standard marine armor
*light specialist and smartgunner armors now actually give an additive speed boost even compared to naked people

it is the perfect compromise, you see, because it removes the encumbrance!
