And pockets, if I may include.

Oh, look at that. I made a new page.

I'm not sure how it works here, but on the latest baycode, larger items take up more space in backpacks, so for example, a rifle would take up the space of 2 knives/small objects, not sure why this wouldn't be an easier solution?

How much space should it use? Backpacks can hold 7 slots with max of 21 combined size.
Right now, it uses 4

I both agree and disagree with this. It's hard enough when a marine is disarmed during a fight to then have to pick up the gun, wield it, and fire it, and god forbid it runs out of ammo while being disarm spammed.

Why not allow for a SINGLE rifle to be MOUNTED to a backpack rather than simply storing it INSIDE of a backpack? It's a win-win for everyone!

Is this still an issue we should look at?

No, this is just blatantly not very well thought suggestion
M41A rifle is not a danger to you in any way, if you tackled a marine, brought him to nest, hugged him and yet when he gets up out of the nest, he pulls out a M41A rifle and you tackle him back in to nests AND not remove his backpack, its your own problem
And as i said
THE MORE SHIT YOU CARRY, THE SLOWER YOU ARE, TO THE POINT WHERE YOU ALMOST MATCHING THE SPEED OF SENTINEL OR A DRONE

Etc, if you put all M41A or a lot of any heavy items everywhere, like your belt full of tons of magazine and pistols and backpack full of rifles and etc, with belts full too, you be slower than other marines

What... Are you basing that off of?

I ask, because i'm like 99.9% certain, that's totally not in the code anywhere...

I've never noticed getting slowed by having heavy items on your character. Aren't aliens allowed to strip backpacks now anyway?

I am not basing that off of anything
When i carried 3 M41A rifles, i was slower than marines that carried just 1 M41A rifle
When i only carried one, i was faster and able to to catch up with others
I encountered this a lot of times and its not based on lag or etc
I am also certain its NOT anywhere in the code, but you really have to fill up the backpack and belt...

-1, for a reason from both perspectives.

Marine:
I usually jam a single M41A into my backpack. Why? Because if I get disarmed I have another weapon. But if you jam 7 in there, you just ditched your survival kit and the ability to carry anything else. Thats stupid. And like it was mentioned, they can pull off your backpack and melt it.

You have storage in your armor too, you can jam guns in there. I usually have a knife in my boot, which they can't take, a knife in my pocket, a service pistol in my pocket (Or a grenade if I'm the SL), a service pistol in my armor, and a spare clip for the service pistol in my armor, or another service pistol.

Why so many guns? Service pistols are shit but they're better than nothing, and I have lost both rifles before.

In fact, once I am down to the last service pistol and no knives, I usually eat a bullet if I escape. Powergamey? I just got my face raped by an alien. Psychological trauma. I also pull the grenade out of I have it and pull the pin before charging an alien with it. I'm in their base, might as well do a lot of damage.

Filling your backpack is a shit move, and it won't help you in most cases. You can't carry anything on you. Ever. You have to use both hands to hold the rifle and you can't shove anything in your backpack. Additionally, getting enough flashlights to rig all the guns with one is almost impossible, unless you're a one man squad.

I have never been in a situation in which I wished I had one more gun. Not once. If you need three guns to take down the alien, and you still haven't got him with the third gun, RUN LIKE HELL, YOU AREN'T GOING TO WIN.

Alien:
As alien, my preferred role to be honest, I have NEVER had a problem with marines having too many guns. Just tackle them and drag them away from the gun. Most of the time they won't go back to pick it up because pausing to pick it up gives you a chance to grab them again.

If a kill order is given, and the marine is really starting to piss me off, I'll give him a few slashes to get him to behave.

If you can't get a facehugger on a lone, unimplanted human, you're a shit tier alien. Or a drone, in which case what the fuck are you doing out there? If they are implanted, then you don't have to disarm them. Just dance around them until they pass out.

Overall:
Carrying seven rifles is ridiculous, it makes you a liability because you can pack around NOTHING ELSE. Its like carrying the L6 SAW, except you only grab a few magazines for that and you're usually one handing the motion tracker as well, so you have an excuse. It doesn't give you that much of an advantage over the aliens. If you lose your first gun, you should escape using your backup and get a new gun at the sulaco.

In my experience, marines carrying more guns as not been a problem.

I have done EXTENSIVE testing, and I can tell you, that weight, is NOT a factor.

I can see an RP reason for this though, so I'll adjust it.

your computer strength can affect your speed. I'm always 50% slower than anyone else since I have 12 year old comp.
