I'd break the telecoms apc and wouldn't have to cover the meta by breaking a couple other apcs.

Don't allow metagame, just give marines more IC knowledge, so that the gap between IC and OOC goals and strategies is not SO FUCKING HUGE.

Oh, I can deal with extra helmets.
I'll make them not fit in backpacks.

This, pretty much. Without RP we would be playing a remake of an amazing franchise on a crappy 2D game engine with characters that have no walking animation.UnKuT wrote:If metagaming was allowed I would basically quit the server, seeing as how the RP factor would be completely and utterly destroyed. And that's honestly like 3/4 of the fun.

Some people already meta, but if this rule were removed it would lead to even larger amounts of atmosphere-ruining shenanigans. I personally think the only role that should have its meta relaxed is the CL as he would have some info on the facility, but I am in favor of keeping the no meta rule. This server has great rp and a lot of that is seen without metagaming. Once information rolls in, I find the rp can really become less quality because people are rushing to set up meta defenses.

Re: What would happen if we removed the metagaming rule?
Lots of people here seem to side with the idea that the marines would immediately rush into the Northern Cave area and kill the Queen/Hive. I respectfully disagree.
I feel that having a rule in the game the makes players avoid meta-gaming is essential, but i really think that if the rule was removed it would be the marines that suffer the most from it. The way I see the scenario going is as follows:
>Round begins, marines wake up, and aliens are spawned.
>Newly evolved queen and all other aliens rush to the shuttle landing pad: Marines on the Sulaco begin to gear up.
>Queen plants weeds all around the shuttle and promptly calls it to the planet surface: Marines on Sulaco continue to gear up and the first ready head to the hanger.
>Queen fills shuttle with weeds and eggs and the first of the Hunter class aliens appear: Marines freaking out that the aliens have called shuttle and drop pod is launched.
>Queen, with 3-4 aliens boards shuttle and heads to Sulaco: Many of the marines have stuffed the landing pod full and have headed to the surface.
>Queen and aliens slaughter the discombobulated marines in the hanger and proceed thorough out the ship: Marines on the ground rush for the caves.
>Aliens reach upper decks of the ships and first wave of larva begin to hatch: Marine CO screaming into the coms that aliens are on the ship. Marines continue for caves.
>Aliens have killed most of the personal on the Sulaco and have weeds in much of the ship: Marines find nothing of value inside the empty cave system.
>Another wave of alien larva appear on the Sulaco and begin to grow: Marines realize that aliens are all on the Sulaco and head back for the drop pod.
>Aliens evolve into tier two classes: Marines launch the pod back to the Sulaco
>Evolved aliens slaughter the Marines who are bottle necked in the drop pod: Marines die
>MAJOR ALIEN VICTORY
Just my thoughts on the matter

Re: What would happen if we removed the metagaming rule?
With the no meta rule removed, the marines could simply set up a ton of defenses on the Sulaco and a briefing wouldn't be needed. The marines could gear up and just rush down before the hunters could be unleashed, which is a minimum 10 minute wait after eating the royal jelly.

If I remember correctly, one of the older servers ( I think it was the NSS-Gaming one, can't recall exactly.) removed the metagaming rule for about a week before they brought it back. It wasn't pretty.
