Can you read, alien lover?
If you dont want to re-read all the +1 given by other players, I specifically post for you the initial basis for such a change.
(And yes, we got it that you see "lore" and "fluff" and actual coordination and professionalism for an alien team to be unnecessary.)

1. Marines will get a bit of a respite against a coordinated attack;
2. Aliens would have to rely on oral communications a bit more, hopefully pulling back and regrouping;
3. The Queens will be less willing to risk open combat, as an added factor will be losing cohesion.

To address these points:

1) and 2) are essentially the same point. When a queen dies they are almost always going to fall back for a bit anyway as they decide who is going to be the next queen.

As far as 3)... If the queen wants to be stupidly aggressive, there's nothing the rest of the xeno team can do. There's no counterplay and the suggestion amounts to "lose more"

In contrast, if the marines could research a device that scrambled hivemind communications until it was destroyed, that would allow the benefits and counterplay, and give marines a stronger reason to hold the surface.

It's really not going to stop a stupid Queen from leading an attack. Half the time this happens, there are xenos that say things like "Queen, you shouldn't be attacking, please go back to the Hive where you are protected!" and it's either met with "Silence, I am your Queen!" or just silence.

Late-game assaults where you're pushing the Marines out of the FoB? Yeah, sure, Queen can come along I guess, if there's no real chance for the Marines to fight back. But sometimes the Queen goes pretty much rogue, lone warrior style, and then gets killed because as long as you stay out of range for the screech, you can kill the Queen SO EASILY.

So what I'm gathering, is we need something to prevent marine retreats?

After playing a round as queen, I think the current risk/reward is appropiate.

When I play queen, I am aggressive with my screams. I generally either set up traps for attacking marines (all my rooms are scream sized) or wait for an oppurtunity to assault a marine defensive position so I can drop a group and allow carriers/runners/ravagers/crushers to swarm in.

However, I rarely leave the base except when we're doing a full hive assault. My early game is spent directing the efforts of the xeno team, pumping out eggs and jelly.

The strategy is effective, and I have now had 3 major, 1 minor victory as queen and zero losses. I've lost with other castes, of course.

From one perspective, the queen is like an insect queen. From another, the alpha in a pack of predators.

I find the most effective way is to combine both aspects. I still have a lot of learning to do, but I understand the caste.

I don't think marines retreating is the problem, and I think the queen should play a role in major assualts.

For me, disrupting the hivemind on my death would be a minor penalty when I play queen, as I rarely die. I would be massively annoying for when I have to deal with the frequent unrobust queens.

Last match I tried to coach the current queen, who was dead set on creating a forward base, despite me urging her to reconsider. She died predictibly in an OB, and I had waited 20 minutes after my jelly completed so I could take over as queen and lead the hive to victory, probably screeching a dozen times or more to distrupt the marine team.

I would've liked to end the round earlier, but a bad queen early put us all behind. That meant the FOB was impressively fortified and the marines fought spendidly, forcing us to fight for every inch. I think good times were had by all.

Even if hivemind was gone without a queen, I would still screech aggressively. Plain and simple, it wins games and as long as I play smart, aggressive queen play will continue to do so.

Best way to prevent marine retreats — competent command and SLs.
Well, I don't think that retreats is such a problem, cause if aliens invade Sulaco after marine's retreat, marines often lose.

And problem with Queens is that they think, they can do what they want. They forget that they have to do what will be better for hive, and going in first lines to get killed is definitely not good. And when someone advices what to do and what not to, they activate "shut-up-Im-your-Queen" mode and keep doing stupid things. I still think that best system is: if Queen behave like a retard, aliums call admins, admins decide who is right and aliens are, after Queen dies small jobban for 3-4 days. I dunno, how we can teach players not to behave stupid other way. Also, such system for commanding marines' roles would be good, too. Just a bit more strict attitude to people in command roles. If many of your subordinates says, that you are bad CO\Queen, maybe, you should read more wiki and watch how others play in these roles, huh?

I definitely agree with this entire concept, hopefully Alien Queens will stop unnecessarily risking themselves and learn from their mistakes. Aswell it would push Aliens to actually push and protect their Queens like they should be RPly instead of the constant wimping out leaving her to die. The concept you literally made Apop is designed around protecting the Queen at all costs, not thinking she's disposable, even in the RP Guidelines it states you should listen and protect the Queen but apparently there just isn't enough of a reason too in the minds of Aliens, they think, "My life is more important, i'll just use all those huggers she used before to make a new Queen, mreh. We no doubt have random Larva laying around too."

This straight up provides a reason why you should assist/protect your Queen Mechanically, and not greedily try and solo everything and ignore her. She's your Queen, your connection to the Hivemind, without her you cannot keep up with telepathy.

+1 aswell to this, well thought out concept along with all the balanced Pro/Cons above.

I really wish you hadn't necro'd this thread.

Xeno team is already forced to obey and protect a bad queen, which happens all the time.

Marine command are required to stay on the ship most of the time, which prevents them from rambo dying, and marines are under a soft obligation to obey anyway.

If xenos don't follow orders, queen ahelps and they get bonked.

The only time bad queens get left to die is when there is no way of saving them, but the answer is not to punish the team more for having a shit queen.

There are a couple ways of encouraging queens not to go on the offensive, but punishing everyone else when they do

1) teaches them nothing, as you don't even know who the queen was unless they win
2) Makes a team already trying to succeed despite a shitty queen have an even harder time. Xenos can't tell the queen to play more carefully, and most bad queens powertrip so they'll just tell you to go fuck yourself in LOOC if you tried.

This is a bad suggestion thread. Let it stay dead.
