Re: Standard Issue TNR shoulder lamps
+1 Provided the standard issue armor lights are not any better than flashlight. We do have pistols with flashlights for this reason, but if we have to use that pistol, we will most likely lose it, and then we will have absolutely no light source and be completely blind. This would allow marines to have at least a flashlight as a light source at all times, and actually be able to use that backup pistol they carry.
This does however completely obsolete the rail flashlight. If you wish to have rail flashlights maintain usefulness, perhaps make the armor flashlight similar to a PDA light, or just a tile more than a PDA light.

+1 And add a second light on the Squad Leader's other shoulder so nobody can say we're taking from the Squad Leader's job... which is to direct their squad, not stand out in front as a signal flare for his squad to shoot at...

What about if you get slashed in the chest and your armor-lamp breaks? Then (with the pocket flashlight removed from the standard kit), the rail flashlight becomes your only source of light.HalfdeadKiller wrote:This does however completely obsolete the rail flashlight. If anything, it becomes more useful.

Re: Standard Issue TNR shoulder lamps
as unknown stated, they already have everything they need for light. maybe down the line but right now this would just take up the devs already stretched time for something that is completely useless aside from ascetic value, i would love to see this when we have a more complete dev staff who don't already have a giant back log (last i checked)

Question, why is it on their shoulder? Wouldn't it make more sense to put it on the helmet and connect it to the battery on the armor with a encased wire, also preventing the helmet from coming off?

Facehuggers should destroy the light in your helmet then.Evilkyle24 wrote:Question, why is it on their shoulder? Wouldn't it make more sense to put it on the helmet and connect it to the battery on the armor with a encased wire, also preventing the helmet from coming off?

Why not have 'em both? It'd encourage aliens to aim for other places beyond hands and feet.

I see the point though. For roleplaying purposes, I'd much rather have my lightsource be a lamp mounted on my armor than be a flashlight in my pocket.apophis775 wrote:Squad Leaders have these.
All the marines had shoulder-lamps in the film if I recall correctly.

You know, I guess flashlights are such a standard issue, we could look into this. Maybe, everyone except the Specialist and his special armor/gear?

Indeed, stuff your pockets with ammunition boys. Light goes on the guns.Steelpoint wrote:The reason why Marines go out of their way to slap flashlights on random pistols in their pockets is because there's no other way to hold a lightsource that does not take up room.

Everyone wants it, it's lore friendly, the aesthetic is pleasing, and I think the idea of aliens breaking it when targeting torso could add a new threat to the marines.

On a side note, it would be interesting to have them run out of power and need a recharge after about an hour of being on. Not sure how lag inducing that would be though.
