Wiki Updates and Additions.

What I'll do is what I did for the other sprites in that I'll simply take screen shots and edit everything out to make the best image I can get.

When I edit for /tg/'s wiki I just load up a offline server, set up the gear and get a good screenshot. Its not that different to here but I'm reliant on watching players and waiting for a good screenshot.

Thanks to Derpislav I've got a image of all the guns in the game.

I'll slowly expand the weapons page but it'll take time since I need to actually go in game and find the gun lying around to get a desc of it, as well as to try and figure out how the weapons work/are different for a description.

I've already put in two quick new entries on the weapons used by the WY PMCs.

You mean that you didn't take my 32x32 image and make it 64x64?

If you didn't, then that's some pretty amazing work, but you don't need to use that much effort on each icon. The icons can be extracted from the .DMI files as a .PNG, including transparency, so let me know if there are any icons you guys need for the wiki and I can get them pretty easily.

I took my own in game screen shot and made it 64x64.

Lot more work, easier on /tg/ since I can just load up a server.

I'll be doing that for all xenos and guns but more slowly.

Edit: I like doing my screenshots since I like having higher quality images in general.

I've already uploaded all the Xeno sprites directly from the source. You're doing a lot more work than is necessary. You could either download the PNG, edit it, and re-upload it if you think it needs it somehow, or simply use wiki markup to enlarge it:

The wiki automatically shows the alien sprites in 64px, that's why most of the sprites have a fuzzy effect on them.

I can't download and upload the png since I can't make a 32px sprite suddenly now be 64px in quality.

I don't use the in game screenshot taker, I use a external screenshot taker to get my screenshots in full screen quality.

Which program are you using to get the screenshots?

I'm just using the inbuilt program that comes with Dropbox.

Hell, print-screening would work just as well.

Also could someone look at changing the Queen and Marine image used on the front page? They're well out of date.

I've also been adding in as many weapons as I can get information and pictures on, I've updated the Boiler page and I've got a new Boiler image which is much nicer and crisper.

Still got to finish the marine intro guide.

I think the wiki could use a more concise linking system. A lot of pages tend to lead to dead end articles instead of linking back out into wiki information hubs, which i think could be improved so traveling around is easier.

I tried to do some changes earlier, but it was a pretty bad attempt on my part (Sorry to Rahzel). Maybe someone with a little more experience can come and give it a look see.

No problem. I was trying to think of a more civilized way to get you to stop but I had to make it a block in order to get your attention. I've unblocked you.

The wiki is small enough that getting around isn't too difficult, but I'm fine with adding some kind of automated breadcrumbs or even infoboxes like this that show all similar entities.

One can simply get back to the Marines page by mousing-over the "Marines" menu bar and clicking "About the Marines".

Just paging you to get your attention, Rahlzel. So my page at http://cm-ss13.com/wiki/Research_Guide is getting to a passable state, but luckily DrHurts caught that there is already a fairly extensive "how-to" research guide under wiki/Researcher which then hilariously enough points to an old research guide I wrote on the forums.

I wanted your input on the best way to organize this and to maybe change the front page "Research" link to point either towards the "Research Guide" or "Researcher" page rather than to the Bay12 page. Right now it looks like this (a points to -> b):

Front Page -> Bay12 Research
(unlinked) Research Guide -> Researcher job page -> forum guide
Researcher job page -> Bay12 Research

I'd much rather have the wiki be the main home for any and all information especially when it can be fixed and changed over time, whereas a forum topic can only be edited by its creator.

Gotcha, I'll work to trim some of the outdated stuff from the Researcher job page so that it stays concise and move the still relevant information to the Research Guide page. Thanks for updating the front page Rahlzel.

I agree with LK here, notable marines should be added but they should be discussed by the players who's names might be put on there first.

Over the next few weeks I'm going to update parts of the wiki that have been left to decay (weapon attachments) and add pages that you chaps want, also I'll be updating the main post to reflect this probably by later today/tomorrow depending on the timezone.

In brief, post here for pages you want added or rectified in the next few weeks.

Attachments should be fairly accurate, if not perfectly accurate. I went through all of them last time there was a small change (September) and updated them according to our code.

Quite a few of the attachments can't or can be fitted onto weapons which aren't in the right place last time I checked a couple of days ago, as well as that some of the weapon attachment bonuses/negatives need to be altered on there for example the suppressor giving a minor accuracy boost which isn't on the wiki.
On a side note we need a sprite update for some of the weapons on there.

Not sure about the "Usable by" column. Can't remember if I updated that as well.
