That's not all that happens there, I just gave a more hectic example of a Mercenary round. Most of the time it's casual RP.

I like these rules, not too restrictive but seeing marine rambo shitlers and people who ignore orders be slapped will be a nice change.

I was asked about telling clones they are cloned. Feel free too, there is no rule against it, NOR should it lead to violence/suicide/bullshit RP.

Agreed. Bad marine players who Rambo don't just get themselves killed, they hurt their entire team

I feel the ranking structure should be ironed out more before enforcing it. To me, it doesn't make logical (nor USMC) sense to make the specialist a higher rank than the engineer or the medic a higher rank than the specialist. The ranks given to them also doesn't really follow: ie the medic being a sergeant.

Hm... I think emphasis on what kinds of characters are acceptable/unacceptable. I think we have that "No insane characters." rule, but that doesn't cover people with unrealistic and/or snowflakey backstories and such.

Most recently? I was talking with another MP and they had the old stereotypical war vet thing going on, apparently they're like seventy years old and suffering from dementia. Obviously someone that wouldn't pass a physical OR mental exam. They even stated that they weren't seen fit for duty as a marine so they're "stuck as an MP."... So I don't really think they understood that MP's aren't mall-cops either.

Now, it's 5am, I haven't had any sleep at all tonight because yaaaay finals, so there's a chance I missed something in the rules. If I did, please correct me... But what I would encourage? Being extremely clear of "If your character wouldn't pass the physical and mental requirements of the USCM, they would NOT be enlisted." and then have something among the lines of "No, your character is in no way related to anyone in High Command, they were not accepted because of any possible relationship, they were not accepted because Command was bribed, etc."

At least with this, we could crack down on the people that like to play 80 year old war vets that got by because practically every part of them is cybernetic.

Other than that, I don't have anything else to really contribute. I like these guidelines. Several things I personally wanted changed or altered have been addressed and overall I believe this will be a positive change.

Remove the robot costume part, and you've got yourself a deal (I could tooootally see a dude on a ship being so bored that he went into the back of his private station and did something stupid)!

EDIT: My bad, already answered question.

Absolute +1.
When the voice from the shadows calls you
When the wind whips past your ears
Will you stand when the weight is upon you
Or will you go to your knees in fear?

I totally love all of these. It pisses me off to see marines who talk back to the commander and act like total shitlers until the CO has them arrested for insubordination and then they ahelp about how bad the CO/MPs are... yes.. +1

There should probably be something about character age in there. There wouldn't be 18 year old COs or 60 year old standards.

Well due to how cryo works in the movie, someone who is technically 60 years old but have the body and mind of a 20 year old is possible. I mean, it happened to Ripley in the film.

But I'd expect that would be an isolated incident...

I assume the age thing is physical age, not true age. Besides, most cryo lasts ~2 weeks according to the original script. The line regarding this was cut for time restraints and so that another of Weirzbowski's lines wouldn't make it into the movie.

Yeah, I've seen people RP elderly war vets, sixty year old PHYSICALLY, as in actual senior citizens, but because they're 90% prosthetics that makes everything okay.

It's not about being physically capable, it's about the marines discharging you. The oldest I've heard of someone still serving was a reserves doctor in his late sixties, far from a front line space marine expected to make orbital drops.

Yeah, if it were up to me I would call Ripley's stay in cryo an anomaly, one of life's little mysteries but we're glad she survived!

Anyone else though? Nope. Shouldn't happen. I'm pretty sure if it DID happen, they'd still discharged because High Command would be worried about any possible effects that long-term cryo could have on the human body. They're an automatic liability, they shouldn't have been taken in.

I want to caution against having too many rules on special snowflake sort of scenarios or policing of people's roleplay, Yeah alright maybe the USMC wouldn't hire a grizzly war veteran but as long as not every single person decides to be a snowflake those people can really spice up a a round. I don't know about you but I don't want to play on a colonial marine server where everyone is like "HI I AM A COLONIAL SOLDIER I WAS BORN IN A MIDDLE CLASS FAMILY I AM 20 YEARS OLD AND I LOVE AMERICA."

Yeah. An age limiter would be kinda nice for higher RP roles.

Yes +1 all the way to a age limit, especially for any command roles. Even experienced SS13 players have no place in command if they're playing CM for the first time.

I don't think we should allow women in the USCM it's really lore breaking to have women soldiers.

I think the age restrictions could be more loose on sulaco staff though since those are higher tier ranks it would make sense for most of them to be older than the standard marines.
