I once won a round (in the last 2 weeks) where the queen never allowed slashing. It was impressive, but also a lot slower than murderboning once we got to the sulaco.Wickedtemp wrote:At that point, the game turns to "Infect as many as possible." because some of them WILL burst, or they'll suicide, and that's one less marine to deal with.
Then there's the end-game Xeno assault, at that point just kill unless the Queen forbids it. There have been rounds, not high-pop, where we nested most of the Sulaco, didn't kill any of them except for a couple.

But infesting and letting them run off or in an unsecure area is a recipe for disaster.
2-3 marines with m4's who are already infested can easily go on a death march and cripple a hive's defenses. Nothing more horrifying as a slower caste than multiple infested marines just rambo'ing toward you and there's nothing you can do.

I played that round, it's not that hard if the xenos are just on a long, slow march to victory. If the marines just trickle in toward the xeno nest and you steadily grow your population then managing infestations and staying slash-free isn't hard at all.Toroic wrote: I once won a round (in the last 2 weeks) where the queen never allowed slashing. It when populations get skewed and a big push on the nest leaves you with a costly victory and now the two surviving nest-defenders have to manage 10 infested marines.

Anyway, denied. This is staying. It's a legitimate tactic, that has been used pretty much since the start of CM.
