I can see a few issues with said theory.

1. it's ID locked. How's a xeno with no proper identification able to smash said button and not just break it?

Again, the queen is just hitting the "auto-return".

The shuttle "locks onto" the landing pad and then requires just a single button to control.

Well, if the aliens can't take the hanger, they should return to the planet, the marines will have to eventually attack them.

Or maybe, don't call the shuttle until your ready as the queen, because if your READY when you call, and then launch when you can, it's about 4-6 total minutes for the marines to "prepare".

Also, what happens when the queen FAILS an attack and gets wiped out? That's my only problem with this suggestion really.

When they leave, the sulaco's "superior heavy impact response tailoring system" or SHIRTS, for short, would inflate some walls to fill the breach when the ship takes off.

P.S. The acronym is nowhere near to a serious recommendation, It was just close and I wanted to make it a good acronym

To fix the issue with the getting back if they do beat back the aliens the Drop pod should be stated to use a Auto return function as it has a even smaller location to land and is much smaller its easier to have a auto pilot programmed for it so even if the drop ship is crashed then the drop pod would be the only way back and forth.

+2. Really good idea, and it would make a good final conclusion to a round.

Heres what i think when i hear this idea:

- Queen activates the dropship console. The warning siren plays out. Marines dont know whats going on, this has never happened before?!
- marines rush to the hanger, set up defenses to intercept the boarders.
- 50/50 chance roll comes up. If its even, the ship lands normally. The auto-recall works fine. If its odd, the Dropship is on a crash course ( the queen accidentally clawed up the console too much or dropped acid [queens really need to ease up on drugs] and fried some important homing chip)
- 2 minutes to impact, Mother automatically warns the ship is on a crash course and Sulaco's guns cant intercept the ship. Brace for impact.
- 2 places for the ship to crash: a 50/50 choice of A or B.
A) the normal dropship landing zone; but it smashes through the hull and is simulated by several girders being spawned around the dropship[gibs anyone/anything under the girder spawn area] The drophip is also torn up decently (some hull plates despawned, engine tail despawned)
B) Emergency docking areas: The Dropship guided itself into the emergency docking areas and smashed into 1 of the 5 areas. ERTs can no longer use that section as a spawn point.

-The dropship is now totaled, It cannot be used anymore.
-The ability to go from the Sulaco to the colony can only be acomplished by the droppod now.

Problems:
- what happens to all the other mobs if they are stranded on the colony? what if a queen spawns on the colony? What happens if a lone queen launches the ship to the Sulaco early before the round has "concluded"?

I like the idea, given the stipulation that the shuttle is basically rendered unflyable so you don't get aliens waving up like I've seen with the shuttle, make it an all or nothing sort of deal also making sense that you crashed it, it's wedged into place, and I dunno, make the pod command deck flight only, take the console out of it, so in the off chance marines do manage to hold off and there are xenos that couldn't fit or what have you, there's still a viable way to and from the planet. +1
