Re: New map: USS Inheritors - the sister ship of Sulaco
Weren't we talking about using the old sulaco as a new map to go to, rather than a replacement for new sulaco? The new sulaco is better by far, but the old sulaco would be fun to fight in if we recycled it for this

read the topic bro, this discussion is about a new map not about a new sulaco....i just want the layout for a new ship MAP not the same designLordLoko wrote:
I would prefer not, if you played since NSS, you would know that the original sulaco was more like an placeholder, even the change that give more details like maint and stuff like that was just to make a bit better to a future map. The current map is more complete and more like a ship, different from the old which has some big problems on the layout.
Take the nostalgia goggles off and you'll notice how old sulaco is bad design.

Pretty much that. If you want the gamemodes to choose maps randomly, all maps must be active, and there is no way to remove them. So all power wires, atmos pipes, power check, atmos checks and all those processes from every map included in the server are being proccessed even tho we only play on one map.Jeser wrote: And why server would lag? I just dunno, how it all works, but can you explain in simple? When server starts all maps getting loaded to server no matter what map is currently selected and that means more maps — more lags all the time? Or how it works?
The only way around this lag is the weekly map rotation, as only one is being processed.

Aha, then, weekly rotation — is the only option if we want more good maps, it seems.Infernus wrote: Pretty much that. +1 Xeno contaiment would be useful if you capture a xeno... Sulaco contaiment already sucks a lot.

You read it in the wrong context.MikeHdez97 wrote: read the topic bro, this discussion is about a new map not about a new sulaco....i just want the layout for a new ship MAP not the same design
I was saying how the old sulaco is a bad example for a combat map. It is EXTREMLY linear and the combat would be a tug-of-war between marines and aliens, the current sulaco is a better "basis" for the USS Inheritors than the old sulaco.
That's what I said with "take off the nostalgia glasses", old map was a very shit map to combat in.

Re: New map: USS Inheritors - the sister ship of Sulaco
It's the layout I think it's bad since the fight is concetreted in only one corridor, leaving not much options for flanking and a great place to the marines turtle in the briefing.
I would prefer the current sulaco as basis.

I like the idea, but I'm opposed to using the Old NMV Sulaco map. (fucking NanoTrasen bastards. USS Sulaco forever) I think an entirely new ship would be in order. One slightly larger than the Sulaco, but looking more like it was geared towards Colonization, Exploration and Groundbreaking Research.
+1, but it needs to be a new ship.

It has to process all the maps at once, meaning, the more maps the more lag.
We've already got a SILLY long start-time, mostly related to the maps.

Would a weekly map rotation (every sunday midnight you change the map) work?
Could be an automated map rotation be possible too?

No, map rotation requires a compile, thus, it would be MONTHLY, which would translate into "When I get around to it"
