Well isn't this odd.
George S.Patton once said:No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making some other poor dumb bastard die for his country.
I don't like cute things.
Good hunting.

I meant the color you dumby. And there is plenty of creative ways one could make such a hair length safe.

You'd be surprised how many people joke about that IC.

No, I wouldn't be.
I think the thread changed directions a bit, though. From unrealistic (everyone in the corps is either rambo or animu, no exceptions) it went to snowflake shaming.
Like every SS13 discussion ever.

Be original in an organization without strict rules regarding uniforms and hair length.
inb4 hate avalanche because my character has shoulder-length hair.

UZZAH! (British marines version)
Yes, my flavor text is mostly my dogtag and a description of how I smell like cigars.
Flavor text should be a basic description: "Tall, muscular, face looks like a potato", not something like this:

As terrible as that is, I find some of the more thematically appropriate character dossiers just as cringe worthy. Example...
Sgt. John "Ironfist" Slagathor
Specialist who's military history mentions nothing but these super bad ass raids on this and that exotic group of criminals. Full honours on every trip, usually there are some mentions of being the only marine left standing (because that doesn't look terrible on your resumé or anything). If there are any flaws in his character it's usually to do with usurping authority (he's still not demoted or shitcanned, mind) or being a lone wolf who smokes and drinks a lot and gives you a thousand yard stare from the back of the military transport. The very back bit, the corner where the shadow hits his face in the most broody and bad-ass manner.
- Family: You can bet your balls they were all murdered in some gruesome fashion or another. If the player has a good buddy who plays with him, he may have a brother or a cousing or something, but otherwise his only relationships are with other super hard marines he's befriended.
- Career: Yeah, he joined with the marines as soon as he was old enough. Maybe sooner. He lied about his age and at 18 he was already a fully trained elite sniper with several successful special operations under his belt. He's a lot older and wiser now, a grizzled 21 year old with the scars of a career warrior. Despite his blatant disregard for authority he somehow functions perfectly well in the marines.
- Skillset: Fightan; YES! Medical; Just basic medicine, such as treating severe burns, broken bones, appendectomies and simplest of open chest organ repairs. Hygene; Too cool for toothbrushes. Social; Autistic. Fortification; Putting up a wall is just three clicks away, so he can probably do that. Also, he knows how to hack an airlock, because he used to be an elite hacker when he was a kid.
- Anything else: Whatever isn't covered in the basic summary is probably too [REDACTED] anyway. You're not a bad enough dude to know all the shit Johnny's been through.
So yeah. Between the Wearwolf of Western Tokyo and Sgt. Hardass, I find both to be implosable enough to ruin any resemblance of immersion. Something that would otherwise be incredibly hard in the 2d alien spaceman simulator...

The most immersion breaking feature of this game for me is the fact that this server doesn't have a proper gender option. I'm not a female, I'm not a male, I want a custom option that allows me to type in what I truly am.
Wake up, Colonial Marines. It's 2016!
Long live our Soviet motherland,
Built by the people's mighty hand.
Long live our people, united and free.
Strong in our friendship tried by fire.
Long may our crimson flag inspire,
Shining in glory for all men to see.

Some "heavy roleplay" character I've seen months ago in a server, still can't stop laughing for the fact it tried to be a catbeast/human, ended up becoming half wookie.

Anyone caught saying that word or any version of it, Will be shot out of the nearest massdriver without a space suit or oxygen. Also yes and no, Hair can be explained: Dyed/Genetic mods/Bullshitium. But favour texts and names need hammering. E.G. Commander named Marten L. Kang reports to an admin that the name is a version of Martin Luther King. Gets told that the name is fine as it's NOT a reference.

What gets me is the constant insubordination and incompetence.
Compared to that braids are prefectly fine.
(Also, no, Mitch, Anya's marine hair is unrealistic as fukk. We still love her.)

I agree, but tell high command to fix those bars they included on MREs.
It's what started the trend IRL. Hehehehe

The military generally makes fun of people who say hoorah (hooah, hoohah, hooyah: depending on your respective branch.)
Saying "hoorah" makes you a loooooooosssssseeeeerrrr so you shouldn't be saying it anyway.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....
