OK.

So... I roll MP since I only had an hour to play, and I figured the funniest part of MP is the first hour or so and then its just cryo duty.

But.. I get lucky and roll survivor!

But its on LV... and hugger combat is still a thing... I suck at LV survivor but rock at Ice Colony survivor, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I spawn in the river and go to medbay for metal (and was spotted by a runner on the way, so I know I had to find a hiding spot FAST) so I go for the IA offices which has shutters.

I lock it but then hear someone screaming and calling for a medic outside the doors. So I open shutters and find... another survivor! All my survivor rounds I have been alone or with another person, and ive had a substantial survival rate with just another person, so this was great news. I had metal from medical, and he brought a welding helmet.

But then... ANOTHER survivor, and the last survivor to spawn, comes to IA offices too and we're all holed up! It is me (Luca), Ivan (shotgun welder and original owner of IA Offices), and Donovan "Beef" (great builder).

"Beef" turns out to be a GREAT builder and staller for time as he builds girders, and welders down normal walls in AI to get at the girders then places them on all the blast door entrances of IA. I help him out while Ivan keeps a watch; he's our gunner after all. I had the idea that putting down tables as barricades would work but "Beef" corrected me as girders need to be acid'd and stall for better time than tables, so I cut them all down for metal.

We kept this routine up against first sentinels, then spitters, and even a boiler. Finally, almost the entire hive (T3's) came to IA to try and beat Girder Fort (TM), until they got tired of girders and brought in a Ravager!

The rav started breaking in, and we desperately started converting girders into walls to keep them out. But finally the Rav broke through one area, and I quickly patched the hole up with a temporary barricade of a vending machine and gave Ivan enough room to shoot anyone entering.

At this point, "Beef" had the great idea to bail as we wouldn't last long, and popped open girders. I followed him, but Ivan stayed behind, shooting at the T3's and T2 Spitters trying to enter! He stalled for time and gave me and "Beef" enough time to loop through medical to Hydro and meet with the USMC soldiers making their way to Hydro.

We convinced the USMC soldiers to quickly go to IA office to save our friend, but alas, it was too late... the only thing we had in memory of him was a shotgun and red start vodka to the left of the pod with a trail of blood leading to the deep jungle...

Here's to you, crazy Ivan, for sacrificing yourself to give us the much needed time to escape even when you knew that you wouldn't live.

Haha holy shit. That was quite possibly, the best low pop meme start I've ever seen, what a laugh fest. I also remember taking the brain from the SL who let me have it, and walking it around like a dog. Fun round, we all died.
Also the first round I ever laid my hands on a SADAR and witnessed its glory.

A couple of nights ago, alpha squad were sent to the new tcomms on the Ice Colony to set up a defence and make sure no aliens went and took out the communication tower, under the command of our Squad Leader, Johnny "Snowball" Redem. There were about ten of us overall. We set up defences, and waited.

For one and a half hours, with no contact except for one larva. Even to the extent where we began to hear messages of aliens on the Sulaco after they took the Rasputin.

As such, we became the only surviving marine force, and dubbed our little base of operations Alphatown. We had enough food to last us a while, and in case that ran out, we planned to eat the single Delta squad member that was stranded with us.

After that hour and a half, we finally got found when a runner came up and set off a claymore when I was replacing snow barricades with plasteel ones. Blew out my hearing and both my legs, but they were fixed pretty quickly thanks to our top notch medic. Johnny told us to check the tcomms tower to make sure it was working, and as Xur and I went to check, we realised that for whatever reason, we couldn't fix it. Still don't know why. Maybe admin involvement because we had been around for so long.

With only two sentries, limited supplies and quickly advancing "Dragon" forces, as Xo Yung called them, we retreated to the safety of the elevator (which Xur quickly secured) and made it down into the underground mere seconds before a Ravager ripped open the doors.

We tried to make it to the pod to make our escape to the Sulaco, but there were just too many of them. I got insta-decapped after a Hivelord turned a corner and thought I looked like a tasty snack. But, all in all, it was an amazing last stand. Like something out of a movie.

Fuck yeah. Best squad Alpha squad. I'll have to look into the charger at some point, never really got a chance to give it a whirl. But the gyro is so useful, especially if you're trying to multitask, it's like the first thing on my list as an engineer.

Having a nice quiet shift as MP. The only incidents are one case of hooliganism and the RO blowing themselves up making an IED. Eventually we discover we have no command staff on the ship. The XO had decided to go surface side and coordinate things. Our attempts to contact her to come back fail. We discuss what to do, one is in favor of bringing them up on charges and another in favor of being their honor guard. So 2 out of 3 of us go down to extract them as honor guards, disregarding the neglect of duty charges. I had not heard anything about how the battle had been going ground side.

The Rasp lands and we leave the ship to discover LZ1 under massive siege, no comms, and the marine we arrested for hooliganism playing a piano as the battle happens just steps away. Neither of us brought more than a pistol. I grab any weapon I can find and add some fire as we try to get the XO back to the Rasp. We get the wounded and several marines on board and try to step off to get the XO and the piano man and it takes off. Both of us, the XO, a couple of marines and the piano man are all left behind. I panic before deciding to fight on. I say it was an honor to fight at my comrade's side as she gets wounded and collapses. I pull her back as far as I can and cripple an arm somehow. I take her magnum and hold the barricade for a couple shots and get stuck on the wrong side of boiler acid and collapse. I get dragged off as I hear the sound of the Rasp landing over the piano music. The piano gets saved as I get hugged. While in dead chat see my comrade mourning me as the piano keeps playing.

This round I was a round start Queen. The Brood started poorly, (kind of beucase of the spot I took, which made taking snow not monkeys there hard) and we only had about 8 larvas from small hosts, but we did not have many deaths, I layed a ton of eggs and ambushed some squads going underground with my xenos, and expanded our numbers alot. After some failed assaults at the marines, beucase of lack of coordination, I decided to make a bootcamp for the xenos. While training my brood, marines attacked, I did not care beucase the xenos were disorganized, so I gave a speech and alot of orders on positions while marines got a little, just a little deep into the egg corridors, then just according to PLAN I sent my brood, with me just behind the front line, and we wiped the marines that did not pull back. Then, we launched three pinpoint accuracy attacks at ladders, with about two-four loses, killing and infecting about 12-16 hosts. Then, I bootcamped my xenos again, and ordered them to follow me through the Hangar ladder, and we sieged LZ1, which we wiped (but a Boiler went onto the Rasputin and got sent off with marines and died). Then we attack Sulaco, wipe it, except of engineering and one host in the brig I kept for amusment. THEN SUDDENLY ENGINEERING TURNED ON THE OVEN, IT WAS A TRUE HOLOCAUST, AN ANOTHER SHOAH, OY VEY. 12 out of my 16 xenos died to hot air, the other 2 were stuck, 1 in space, and other from the big host later on. While we were fighting on Sulaco, 8 marines decided to drop their pants, pee and drop with the pod. I could not call it up beucase of a bug, so I sang a xeno version of Old Macdonald had a farm, aka Old Empress had a hive. Soon after that the Admins teleported me and my Elite Ravager down, I became Ancient, we chased the marines and.... THEY USED THE POD TO GO UP, THE COWARDS! THE FOOLS! HIDING IN THEIR METAL BOXES! Admins teleport us again, we search the lower deck, and find them in the armoury, I proceed to engage with my ANCIENT SCREECH, REEEEEEEEEE! And we kill about 2 from the 7, one decides to run AGAIN, others show some resistance and get killed, the ravager says that he is wounded and will wait to heal, I was also wounded but I said "I DO NOT CARE ABOUT MY WOUNDS" the elite ravager motivated by my bravery, charged with me, slaying the coward. And I danced on his corpse while the round ended. The end.

Damn, I was that last marine knifing you, let me sit down and tell you the story of my adventure of the lands.

I woke up, late round, don't remember specifics but Engineer, sulaco about to be boarded, spend time banging on engineering door to let me in and fortifying hallway from the scary lizards. Eventually the CO? I believe and other scared marines come in, we hear them coming so breach with C4 into engineering and head down the ladders in a panic. Our goal, get to armory and fight off the intruders! On our way there we see a Ravager so we fuck off on the pod, in character I believe, once landed we secure the area and restore underground power, i mention being colonists on the planet, or somehow sending a distress like the original colonists! We argue a bit for a plan of action....

That is, until the command announcement of "Orbital Decay Imminent, Impact: Colony". Cue massive panic as explosions wrack colony. Somehow the other marines insist going above ground (Despite underground having more shielding from impacts? What?) Anyways we run and plan on getting comms until another announcement says the pod was sent with aliens. I, thinking cleverly, assume they are out searching for our tiny band, and left the pod! Cue panic to get to Sulaco, and evac for our lives! We get up there, make way to armory for weapons before our great escape, literally as i am hovering my mouse over the grenade launcher, Queen comes in and screeches, I thought she was planetside... cue murder while we are all stunned, I get up and use my great skills to knife and cut the Queen! Until I fell.... Atleast it said "It looks injured"!

In the end dead chat kept calling us delayers who weren't robust and died immediatly for all of our delaying. Wow, I thought it was a fun story! Also let's be honest, we had no chance against an ancient Queen screech who also got TELEPORTED to us! We thought we were pulling great sneaks to escape. Anyways in the end fantastic round, if not for chat literally hating our guts, not like we hid in a corner, haha.

I was with you on that drop. I got pinned against a wall, separated fron you guys by a boiler cloud, retreated through it while blind-firing, hit directly with a second boiler cloud, managed to get out of it, then took two AP rounds to the back.

I was so disappointed. I got one of the piano players on the Rasp after he got hugged, though. So that was a small victory.

i never knew Z activated things untill i accidently pressed it while getting my spec gear and burning myself to death in the spec room.

I'm gonna have to agree with this. A round a few days ago, I played as a MT and decided to open a coffee shop right above briefing in maint. I got ahelped by Apop himself saying it was breaking the rules, even though both the CE and CO gave me permission to build my shop because it was harmless. In admin PMs Apop said something along the lines that building the coffee shop was wasting supplies from the USCM, and breaking RP guidelines. He said past cases they have prevented similar buildings such as fight clubs, bars, etc. MTs roles are DEFINED TO ONLY: Repair, Clean, and Maintain. In some cases you are permitted to assist building the FOB, but only after marines have secured the area. And once aliens start boarding the Sulaco you may build defenses. So essentially MTs are glorified janitors, and SUPER HEAVY RP RESTRICTIONS on any actual engineering done.

Instead of getting rid of solar crates, they should just get rid of MTs and CEs. There is literally no point to these roles. They can easily be filled by squad engies. At this point, I see no value in ever playing a maintenance tech again. Maybe after enough people boycott these roles, things might change, but for the time being I'm avoiding them.
