Funny, Embarrassing, and General OMG Moments

Couldn't we call them Xenos? I mean they are aliens and the term Xenomorph was used by the USCM in Aliens based entirely off of Ripley's report. I imagine the reason we use Lizards is just stuck and is tradition these days.

My point is the term Xenomorph just means alien form, and you don't need to have prior knowledge to designate them as aliens. At the same time calling them lizards or bugs helps push the local wildlife narrative we like to use at round start. I have no strong feelings about this either way and think its up to command what to call them.


Also I was thinking about another round I played some time ago.
I was playing MP and was helping a new guy get the hang of things and by the time we got to weapons training on the firing range we had a marine major. So I told him to find me next round so we could wrap things up. He hadn't set his job preferences and landed CL and he found me and I showed him how to fire all the weapons and ended the lesson with UGL. I told him how to switch to it and was about give him a target to shoot, he blew himself up by shooting right next to himself instead. He got wounded and went deaf. I tried to teach him the CL job and things spiraled out of control with him getting an infected head wound, drinking his liver to oblivion, and losing his ID and getting mortally wounded by the Rasp turrets.

The next round he ended up being one of the last surviving marines on Ice Planet and gave the Xenos one hell of a fight and outlived me by a huge margin.

As CO I tend to call them xenomorphs simply because that was the technical term that was given to them in Alien 2 BEFORE they even confirmed their existence.

I like to imagine the term 'xenomorph' is a in universe, catch all, term for aliens.

So I get down on the planet and go all gung ho balls to the wall and got pounced and dragged as per usual. Thing was nobody was shooting at the xeno dragging me through the hole in the wall, i was lucky enough to run away from my would be captors and crawled my crit ass through the breach. It is when i make it onto the friendly side of the wall that my "comrades" decide it is time for what i can only describe as:

Replete with the sustained firing as i just sit there getting ventilated, almost up to the kick in the head at the very end. This is karma for saying friendly fire incidents are almost always the victims fault.
