On the topic of balance, it is true, but it is the other way around, it's the aliens that are stronger.
I think those developing and hosting the game don't want balance, and instead they want to challenge marines with things like one hit decap etc. I mean, I get it. But it would be better to have a 50/50 win ration imho.

Admins have said that aliens have about a 75% win rate, though that was about a week ago.

Aliens are strong, Apop loves 'em.

Marines are strong, really strong, only when people are not giant fuckin' idiots and work together. I would know, I play Marine all the time. AND I play Alien. I know this shit far too well.

"Apop hates aliens" b-but when was the last game changing marine update? I want my new sprites and all my stun abilities to recharge in .5 seconds and my mines to be able to destroy a xeno from one tile away and my- If you don't get my point by now this is a waste of effort but please try to remain not only civil but containing a sliver of brainpower.

New sprites=/=balance. Also the .5 recharge on an ability with a 25% chance of proccing that lasts .2 seconds! The horror! But I'm sure your massive brainpower already took care of that math.

Anyone can see the laundry lists of nerfs in the update, most notably the crippling caste limits, were a net loss for ayylmaos to get shiny new sprites that make it hard to click on things. If anyone things marines have it rough in any way shape or form (especially after the shotgun buffs) needs to git gud.
Your daily reminder that this server is utterly shit for balance, and the hack Apop is intent on keeping it that way. :thumbup:

When I play aliens win about four out of five. Not sure when you're seeing a 20% win rate.

Either I'm just that good, or xenos are winning the majority of rounds right now.

hahaahhahahhahahahhahh, christ that's the best fucking thing I've seen in two days. oh wait, posts like these are all over the suggestions, it's just me forgetting to have a look.


now, marines have been winning a lot preupdate, then they've started to lose every round. the update got tweaked I believe and it's still getting tweaked, I also believe. the winrates are about 85-90% xeno majors, and the rest are marine majors and alien minors, I'd say. maybe not that high but it's certainly higher than 80%.

As marines learn how to effectively use the SADAR again, I think those numbers will equalize a bit. From what I saw though, a lot of robust xeno players weren't playing during the period xenos were losing most rounds.

SADAR counters everything but crushers, and has always been a huge factor in marine victories.

the update was said to be tweaked as the time goes, so I believe that and the fact marines have adapted somewhat is the reason it's slowly levelling out, the SADAR is nowhere near close to be a deciding factor right now. even with the recent change.

SADAR is nonetheless a great equalizer.

Not only is it very powerful but Aliens are realising how powerful it is. I oft see the SADAR user singled out in attacks in a attempt to kill the user to deny the Humans the weapon.

The Mag Strap can become a bad thing when the SADAR operator is dragging the weapon to the Aliens.

Then you underestimate the SADAR.

Sniper is great for taking out smaller xenos, but a SADAR has two important components:

1) It does a fuckton of damage, and can put young T3 in crit with a direct hit. Smaller xenos are dead.

2) It stuns faster than a grenade, which can make the difference when a xeno is overextended.

Pre-update I've seen skilled SADAR users absolutely wreck after RO ordered enough ammo to spam it. It is a hugely powerful weapon.

Agreed, and the problem I see frequently is that Marines seem to focus on things like mines and AP rounds, which are mostly going to counter T1 and T2 but not be effective against the mature and elite crushers/ravagers that cause trouble on the sulaco, or the queen.

Snipers and smartguns are more commonly picked, but again aren't very effective against the most dangerous offensive castes.

It used to be that if you kept killing runners/sentinels you could cripple the xeno team by preventing them from evolving, and now it is far more useful to kill off T3s because they take longer to reach mature and be useful, and if they reach elite/ancient it becomes a nightmare to kill them at all.

you're talking to someone who's been using the SADAR 24/7, exclusively, so let us not say I underestimate it, or that I don't know how to use it, or whatever else you can think of, because I know how to. it used to be a deciding factor, but it is not right now. you see, the keyword is right now, just like in my original post. if you want me to be more clear, let me say it that way - the SADAR changed the game's course before it got turned into a useless pile of shite, after that it's been going downhill. thankfully it's been tweaked and hopefully it will be tweaked more, but as of right now it is not changing the game at all. if you want it to be crystal clear, then read your own post when you say "pre-update". if you mean pre-SADAR update, which happened while you've been taking a vacation, then yes, it fucked up everything. if you mean the current xeno update, then you're wrong because it's been degraded by then.

This is why I dislike how prevelant Snipers and Smartguns are.

They are fine weapons but they don't counter T3 xenos.

The only weapon that really does that is the SADAR. The Grenade Launcher would if it were not for the lack of ammo.

I once suggested splitting the Smartgunner off into its own unique role so not to block off Specs in wasting their pick on a Smartgun over a SADAR or something better.

Right now the SADAR is pretty good.

it is entirely possible that the weapon continues to need buffs, but as someone who plays crusher exclusively, I am not being effectively countered.

In the last 15 games, or 40 hours of playtime I have died has a crusher four times.

1 time was after being the last xeno and fighting for 30 minutes

1 time was because I accidentally ate a Marine and did not have regurgitate hotkeyed.

2 times were from hydraulic clamps combined with either a flamethrower or a turret.

Smartguns are not effective, non dragonov snipers are not effective at mature, slugs are not effective either.

Mines and grenades can help take down other castes, but AP rockets would be hugely helpful in countering crushers, and normal rockets in shutting down other castes.

Just to repeat the same old as usual.
The game is purposely balanced towards aliens winning the majority of the time and its not going to change.

You guys dont realize it as much, but when aliens are losing we have more griefing from marines, more ahelps about players wanting events because they're bored and more players running off ramboing.

As much as you complain about shitty one hit de-caps from aliens and insta hugging... Marines have the same bullshit on their end, mines, sadars and grenades.

Simply put, the game is more fun when aliens are winning.
