Well it is just as applicable to CM as in other games I think, just in different ways. In CM, being robust has to do with how well you perform your job, because that is the main gameplay element. All of the jobs working together to kill the other team. In other servers, however, the main gameplay is everything surrounding antags, and as such being good at your job isn't as important.

I'm fond of Barry Flynn as a doctor since he's an excellent chemist and surgeon. While I avoid cryo use in general, it's always nice knowing that a good cryomix is there when he's around.

Plus I learned medical from watching him.

Honestly the only person that's ever stood out to me as being good at the game is Wooks. Everybody else just seems like varying levels of meh.

Harry Cowper? He's average. Wooks makes it look like it's a different game where you can easily bounce around and rek ayys left and right.

I've specced a lot of games and I'm not seeing it.

Also calling Cowper not the most robust marine player is one thing (there's serious competition), but 'average'? Lol, there's no objectivity here. What'd he do? FF your head off one round with his buckshot?

He is robust... Until things aren't going his way.

Then he starts freaking out and going all caps and shit. Reno Story's nickname is "weenie" but sometimes I think Cowper is more deserving of it for pissing his pants the moment he is told that he can't have an autoshotgun on mission start as a standard, or he runs out of Sadar Rockets as a spec.

And trust me, I had him in my squad as a squad leader, his frantic begging for more rockets really makes him look like a pansy, let alone all the times I went CO and he freaked out when told to hold his ground and fight instead of retreating with 30-40 marines still planetside.

No, i'm just saying I've never thought of him as standing out. Very few people I see actually stand out in combat enough for me to notice. Just looks like a bunch of people runnin' around shootin' ayys from time to time and Wooks runnin' through like a madman blastin' everything in sight doin' backflips and hangin' from ceilings and duel wielding M4's.

Even if they don't always keel all xenus, they're good at their jobs ingame, do their part, and are generally nice faces to see in your squad because you know they'll do what you need them to do.

To powergame (i.e. use good macros and a strong loadout in a Marine's case) is to be robust; what is robustness without powergaming? Aim and tactics alone take you only so far.

being robust without powergaming is being a good team player,listening to orders,not FF'ing every 5 seconds and following the chain of command.
