What do you think?
About what you may ask? Hell if I know. Just keep it revolving around CM and Ss13.

Well on the one hand. The players are key to keeping the game alive and everybody is a noob at some point. It just so happens that when we get a couple hundreds new players all at once the lack of skill becomes more noticeable.
On the other hand. I had to play almost 20 games to get a single specialist round, and even then I did not get any of the kits I am good at playing anyway.
In conclusion: I both love and despise the Ssethtide
If I recall correctly didnt we get up close to 300 at some point around the peak? Could just be my memory being fuzzy but I feel like I saw numbers that high

Peak I've seen was around 350 on CM. "Lowpop" is between 80-100, averaging 200 or so otherwise. The lag is pretty awful, especially as the round nears the hour mark

Can i just say that as a new player i am having a blast, haven't played SS 13 before and i am only playing CM at the moment. The community is by far the most welcoming i have seen in my years of playing games, like i spawned as a completely bald marine on my first round with no clue what to do until Erick 'Snake' Silva came by in cryo and showed me the ropes. Grief is really at a minimum if you explain that you are a noobie at LOOC and most people will try to help. Overall really glad i joined and planning to stick around.

Id bet, been a long time since Ive personally seen over 300.
Good to hear it. Same here myself when I first started many-a month back. Ended up relying on outside help. If you ever have any issues, feel free to ask people in LOOC ( to avoid breaking roleplay) or Ahelping to ask for a mentor to guide you through with what you need. CM has a great staff for that and for moderation to keep grief down and everyone InCharacter (IC)
Furthermore, take a look at the wiki if you need any clarification down that angle. Its really informative.
One last thing to add, and I say it cause it took me a month of hellish gameplay to figure it out. Use hot keys definitely and a mouse if possible. It greatly alleviates issues of controls.
Macros, something you can find on the wiki, are another great way of making your own hotkeys for specific actions and thus increasing response time.
Have a CM day!

Technically Sseth didn't bring me here, my friends did. My friend group and my younger brother both played SS13 and CMSS13 for between 2-3 years. I never got introduced to it just by sheer luck. The few times I heard about it I was told "It's hard to explain, Can't really tell you." So I never joined it. When that sseth guy made his video, my friend group showed it to me to finally be able to explain what SS13 was and I joined a week after that.
I haven't tried SS13, just CMSS13. I think it's been extremely fun, I've dived headfirst into the community and RP. The only thing really keeping me is actually the community and the RP. I kinda wish everyone wasn't so mean towards the new people, who I am technically a part of. I was extremely bald for some time, and I still can't play xeno or highly technical roles like any of the Above-medic roles, but I picked it up fast once I stayed. I've actually noticed a lot more toxic baldness from "old" players than from extremely new players, which is eh. If there was just a bit more understanding and maturity towards newer players from the general populace, you'd be able to retain a lot more long term players and cultivate them into experienced knowledgeable players, not baldies and benos.
Then again, what the hell do I know. I'm a "ssethtider"
Lol
Point taken.
That said, I myself have come back from a near 3 month hiatus. Its funny having people think Im bald or of the ssethtide. Especially when I can show up as a CO the next round.
But yeah, we can sadly be toxic to new players. The only reason personally I support being mean to a new player is when they fucked up badly or OOCly while in character. Teaches you to not do it again without having to talk to a moderator or get staff involved which sucks for the new player and isnt helpful. I can remember my own fuckups and since then have avoided them wisely. Like the time I first used a nade: in the briefing line... or posted a link in chat.
That all said. If you ever need help and ask in LOOC people typically are on point with answering
