What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
Ok, i play this for like, 2 or 3 months, and i can't figure out WHAT IS THE DAMN PROBLEM WITH CHARLIE AND DELTA
I'm not even kidding or shitposting, Charlie and Delta ALWAYS are the worst squads on the round, in general. Delta needs to build a FOB? Then RIP marines, because they'll just flip some tables, and that's it. Charlie must assault the tablefort, protected only by one crusher and one boiler? After some minutes, the entire squad is KIA. A Delta medic healing you? Prepare for quick clot OD.
I really don't know what's the problem with those squads, they always get the worst players, the worst SL's, the worst medics, the worst EVERYTHING. I never got FF to death by a Alpha, but i already got Nade FF'ed twice by Delta. Really, remove those squads from the server, or change their names, or just let Alpha and Bravo, because Charlie+Delta are cursed.

I wonder what his wife will say.
Day 120: My brother says the VEGANS are protesting for more anti-meat bullshit. They want more of us to die. FUCKING HEATHENS.
Day 153: The ants are eating me from the inside out. They are popping out my kernels and taking them back to the nest. I feel them moving inside me. Julia says the pesticides will end our misery.
Day 300: Sweet Release. I can hear the planes flying over now. They are dropping the gas, it feels so good, sweet release-

Re: What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
The problem is the way the squads are assigned. The squads are assigned from alpha to delta, so if there's only two engineers, the only squads that will have engineers is alpha and bravo.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

Charlie and Delta are filled with late-joiners that most of the time, are standards.

Little note: if there are two engineers, only Alpha will get them. Engies and medics go two to Alpha, then to Bravo, Charlie, Delta, then again 2 for Alpha, then Bravo and so on. That's why Charlie and Delta always have less special marines, than everyone else.Biolock wrote:The problem is the way the squads are assigned. We need to change the squad distribution then, to make it random, maybe

Re: What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
I could be wrong, but biobabe is rarely wrong. I'm fairly certain that it goes through each squad once and then comes back around. That's the only way there could be 1 medic in charlie, bravo, and delta; yett there be two in alpha.Jeser wrote:Little note: if there are two engineers, only Alpha will get them. Actually it really works like this:
Engineers:
1 - A :1 B :0 C :0 D :0
2 - A :2 B :0 C :0 D :0
6 - A :2 B :2 C :2 D :0
etc
So yeah, might call it broken.

Plus players who set high priority assigned first, then normal, then low then random job. So alpha medic is probably a high priority one. He really wanted to play medic, so there is a good chance he is a pro or at least prepared and read the wiki, delta medic might be a newbie who chose random job. He isn't prepared at all for the job he gets.

Re: What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
Honestly, Charlie and Delta always get the short end of the stick.
Alpha and bravo seem to get some of the better jobs, while the other two often get stuck with patrol duty, one of the worse jobs you could get due to the nature of marines getting easily lost or rushing too far ahead of the others. Keeping marines together while constantly moving is a pain in the ass, let alone having to deal with marines chasing after xenos and losing track of their squad.
That's not to say that Alpha or Bravo are the best squads, since I seen plenty of matches where Charlie and Delta done well.

Re: What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
On low population rounds Alpha and Bravo, regardless, will stand out as 'better' as they more than likely have medics and engineers, compared to the other squads.
On high population both Charlie and Delta can be just as combat effective as Alpha and Bravo on low population.
My conclusion: There is no real 'fix' to this problem, maybe other than randomizing the way special units are assigned.
But there kinda is a trade off if you rather have 2 engineers and 2 medics in one squads, or just have 1 engineer and no medic (random) in one squad.
So have two (or one) powerful squads that will most likely be sent to their deaths: Or have 4 weaker squads that are more diverse and effective?
But most of the time engineers will stay at the fob knowing that: 'hey I'm not as combat effective as a standard' and will stay at the FOB and improve it.

Re: What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
I love being in Delta in my opinion it breeds the most survival oriented people in the game if they get jammed in it enough, it's literally fend for yourself and follow orders or die alone.
If you don't follow the squad as a whole or if you don't try to hold it together by not wandering off you die simply because it is the newbie squad and honestly I like it that way.
If I am a BO (Patience 'patient' Priebe) I always pick Delta because they are always the quickest with a joke and sometimes really surprise me with improvised tactics when they don't have the correct supplies or are surrounded.
Delta spec is always a tard though.

Re: What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
Delta was my favorite squad pre-alpha and it still is now.
The only issue is what the others said, if there aren't enough marines to fill up the squads Charlie and Delta will be lacking in special units.

Charlie and Delta are filled with the lowest priority, leading them to be the most incompetent as a result on average.

Re: What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
Actually, it "cycles through" first for all assignments. Like this:Biolock wrote:The problem is the way the squads are assigned. The squads are assigned from alpha to delta, so if there's only two engineers, the only squads that will have engineers is alpha and bravo.
Alpha-Med
Bravo-med
Charlie-Med
Delta-med
Alpha-eng
Bravo-eng
Charlie-eng
Delta-eng
etc...
The reason you get uneven ones sometimes, is because if 6 people spawn as engie, Bravo+Alpha get 2, but if someone from Delta/Charlie cryos, then that spot is re-opened but they are temp without one.

Re: What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
Would it be a good idea to have some roles cycle in a different squad order, like giving Alpha the first engineer, but Delta the first medic? It would help prevent standard/spec-only squads, though under a certain pop threshold, you'd be unable to get a "full" squad.

Re: What is the problem with Charlie/Delta?
Nop I disagree. like Today (24/12/2016) about 2:00 PM (GMT+1) I was Charlie SL and Charlie was the best squad with Alpha. We had support job. And when Bravo got wrecked at Hydro Charlie came to support Bravo and we pushed to N-E cavern and killed all xenos in maybe 1 hour. We had 2 Medics. I was personnaly with Medics. we had Marines grabbing wounded marines and took them to medics etc etc. I had a really nice squad at this moment.Sad_Corn wrote:
