A mod team of a group on facebook used to have Slack, so i have a small experience with it.
Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.
1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.
If there are players near that can receive a shot, i'll sleep the mad marine. If anyone got shot, i'll apologize by the inconvenience and rejuve the wounded, then i'll ask for him why he was doing that, and while is is responding, i'll check for any notes on his record. No notes? Then i'll put a severe note on him, for griefing and breaking the roleplay of players around. If he already has notes for similar things, i'll again put a severe note, and give a three hours ban, just to secure the rest of round.
2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
First, check to see if it was a pred/SM explosion. If it was a alien or human it on purpose, i'll use the verb to fix the breach, warn the player about how you can't randomly breach the ship, because you can destroy with the gameplay of the other players, and put a note on his record about breaching. If he already has more notes for the same reason, a day ban should be enough, for trying not only ruin the experience of few players, but the entire server.
3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.
Ask for a headstaff if i can send a pizza ERT to motivate them. If they deny it or no headstaffs online, I'll send a MOTHER message with a bioscan and the aproximated localization of the alien queen or the drone alive (No drones or queen alive? just a message about the exact number of xenos left). If they continue on sulaco, i'll mark the ship as rogue in 30 minutes, and probably send a Fax to the CL (If he stills alive) to persuade the CO to send the marines. If the Dchat is salt, i'll say to them that only the Headstaff can give nuke codes., and it's not a situation to give them away.
4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.
First thing sleep the marine to prevent more grief, and keep him sleeping until i finish the investigation. First thing, PM the researcher to notice that he can't just randomly give napalm nades to standard marine since he is responsible for any problem that those nades can cause, after that, just stick him with a note, and one day job ban if he already has similar things to research incidents. To the marine, only a day ban and a severe note.
5. A played is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.
Mark it two or three times as "no response". If he continues, warn him about the note that he is receiving for being a dick and flooding the ahelps. If he continues, a three hours ban will solve it.
6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.
It depends. If he is using a name like "Shavemybearxxx9" i'll PM him and notice about the note that he will receiving for using this type of names, and a ban of 12 hours. If he has a minor RP changer name, like Getulio Vargas, Augusto Pinochet, or any less known, just stick a note and say to change the name after the end of this round. ( I don't know if mods can rename players)
6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
Send the link of the server rules for him. If he keeps arguing, i'll increase 12 hours on his ban.
7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.
Tell him that he can't stay on the frontlines being useless to the medbay while they are struglling to peform surgeries on thousands of wounded marines. Slap him with a note and 1 day job ban. If he has a lot of notes for similar incompetence, i'll request the assist of headstaff to apply a permanent job ban from CMO/doctor.
8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
If it's the first surgery that he is trying to do, and no other similar notes, i would just slap a medium note about the incident, and delete all the surgery tools as punishment. If he has similar notes, a job ban should be enough.
9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
Again, ask for a pizza squad. Maybe send a supply ERT to motivate them, depends how was performance of the marines this round. If the marines are just winning because a random landmine got the queen and then she got spammed by nades, i won't even give a Pizza ERT. If they actually defended the hangar against 20 or 30 aliens, without lose the upper deck, or the engineering part, just keeping the xenos restricted at the hangar, a Supply ERT will act as reward due the competence.
10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.
3 hours ban, a note about EORG, nothing else, nothing more.
11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.
Soap slip is OK when everyone is waking from cryo. If he continues to doing that after 10 or 20 minutes, i'll PM him, say to him that you can't be a dick all the time to ruin the other players experience, and apply a minor note on his record. IF he already has A LOT of notes about similar things, a 12 hours ban should be enough to teach him the lesson, plus another note.
12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
Sleep the griefer, rejuve the victim, apologize about the incident. FIrst, i'll PM the griefer, teach him to use the commom sense, since we don't have the proper escalation rule anymore. Then, if he has more notes similar to the incident, i'll give a three days ban. If it was the first incident, only a day ban. Both cases will receive a severe note as warning for the next incidents that can happen.

13. Why we should accept your aplication?
Well, i'm a decent player, have only two minor notes, ALWAYS report any issue to the staff, like a griefing happening, a marine breaking the RP, etc... I have tons of hours to act as mod, and have a bit of experience to deal with players, or people using the internet.
EDIT: I used to play with the CKey of Whatthehellman, but i had some problems with the e-mail, so i had to change it, so no, i'm not new to the server, i used to play with random names toggle too, just to don't atract attention.

Some of your answers lead me to believe you're a little ban happy.
On number 5, you really shouldn't give a ban for that kind of stuff unless they have a history of doing it. Just mute them from ahelps.
On number 6, I think a 12 hour ban is a little excessive unless he has tons of notes about it. If not, give him a final chance to change it, and on the next infraction, I'd give him at least a 3 hour ban.
On number 7, all job bans are permanent, and you don't need headstaff. Generally we don't job ban unless they have a history of doing it.
On number 8, I wouldn't delete the tools unless they refused to cooperate. That is kind of too much unless they refuse to cooperate, and even then, you should just increase the sentence.
Going with neutral on this one.

For the 6, a name like "Shavemybearxxx9" is a complete Imersion breaker, and Ignorance is not an excuse. Something between 6-12 hours is fair enough for me, since it's actually a RP server, so you MUST to have a commom sense of which name to use or not. But if it is just a simple name, like a historical one, as i said, one minor note is enough.

I never received a ban or a job ban, and there are no guides of explanations of Mod's tools or job bans (If actually has a full explanation about it, sorry) For me you could set the time of job ban. It was a misunderstand, like on 5 and 6. In this case, just a note and order him to go back to medbay and drop the rifle. Sorry.
8. I'm considering that he is on planetside and stolen the tools from medbay, or requested a surgery crate. IF he did that, i think delete the tools is fair enough, marines work as a team, so you can harm your team mates by being a idiot, a medic that stolen tools is a good example. This situation is flexible, delete all the tools is a way, but you could just order him to give them back to medbay, or the doctor. Maybe i have mistaken on this one. Again, didn't know about permanent job bans, so regret that.

The answers really aren't bad. I think my biggest problem is just that you're really, really new. Being on the staff means you'll be dealing with the giant playerbase CM has, and it's very important you're aware of who is known for being a shitter, what characters tend to metabuddy etc. I'm really impressed with your forum activity, but I personally believe you need more time. If you had a few more months under your belt, I would plus you to victory, but I can't, sorry.

You're mistaken, i play since july, but my e-mail account was hacked, so i had to crate another one. I play since july/june. I couldn't keep playing with that account, and i had no idea how to change the email, so i had to crate another one. If that's your only issue, i suggest you to change it. But I can't really like, count that. The thing about random name toggles is this, anyone can say on an application, "yeah, i do random names or i play alien, thats why you dont see my marine name" and there isn't really a way to verify other than moderators interacting with you manually. I mean, SLC had only been playing for 3 weeks (I think) when he was accepted, and almost always observes. Truth be told, it's correct. I was hired about 3 weeks into playing the server, and I have only played a handful of full rounds since being hired because I believe it is more important to have someone constantly watching. If I'm doing that, the other staff are free to play and moderate at the same time. Because of this, I'm not gonna outright say no to you for my opinion.
I've seen you around the forums, and I do like you. However, I don't know you as a player, besides that you do report disturbances rather often, and as Rain stated, the questions leave something to be desired. I'm gonna go neutral for now and see what comes of this.

Oh yeah, i don't like PLAYING on low pop, i don't think that's funny. But i would just spec as moderator. I'm very active on forums, constantly reporting via ahelp anything wrong that i see. And that's it. I think my answers were good enough, i have experience dealing with players, and a lot of spare time, so i'll be always online. Well, i play a lot as player, and some players already know me. I often play as RO or doctor. And yes, the questions leave something to be desired because i don't know all the tools of the moderation, no guides explaining, no threads on forums about it, so it was pretty much impossible for me to know some things, like perma job bans. The only divergence that i had with Rain was on 8., we can argue about that if you want, but the rest of the questions were pretty OK for rain and for me. I think be recognized on community is important too, to show if you are a good player, help the server with new suggestions, etc... Here we want to see how good i can moderate the server, not if i'm robust, or if i'm the best Spec in the game, no. Your would only be valid for a pred whitelist, but here is kinda useless. Players want to see some who they know seeing as attitude in game will translate to mod behavior. Lorde isn't saying you're bad, not how I am reading it, but that no one knows you personality wise which is a big factor

They're one in the same. If you community gets a feel for you, it's better. Just because Slc got by doesn't mean everyone can. In my opinion, you are new. Regardless, localized hasn't seen you on the server which brings up another point, to be mod you have to spend a considerable amount of time on the server. You WILL be burnt out. It happens to everyone, and if you're not active ingame now, you'll basically sit on this and drop in activity. Seen it happen a lot.
