Predators protecting the weak
Since predators help the team that is losing and only likes killing when it is a challenge, would it be possible for a predator to protect a critically injured marine from xenomorphs or vice versa, or would that be a big no-no?

I've only seen preds drag them back to marine positions, never saw one deliberately go out of it's way to protect a muhreen

Re: Predators protecting the weak
It could happen. Up to the pred in question, though, AND the incident.
'rine valiantly fights alongside the pred, defending the lodge, and falls? Proved himself a strong warior who had a moment of weakness, might be defended.
'rine goes to metafight the pred, trips over his shoes, and buckshots himself in the chest? Pred'll laugh as the WEAKLING is dragged off.

Re: Predators protecting the weak
Hmmm as some words of wisdom depends on the pred, we don't necessarily protect the weak team. For instance, times as marine a xeno cut my leg off then later became a legless slave well joined the predators crew. I mean it determines if the pred will show mercy and fend off for whoever it be or let it die. As well predators aren't a balance factor or don't really side with. At times they have made trucks with xenos in hopes of the entire hive not swarming the lodge or vise versa. We aren't a balancing factor, it's not always we help the losing sidedsezg wrote:Since predators help the team that is losing and only likes killing when it is a challenge, would it be possible for a predator to protect a critically injured marine from xenomorphs or vice versa, or would that be a big no-no?

Re: Predators protecting the weak
I've helped out maybe a few young runners or lone marines (if they're not violent and are RPing), but I wouldn't really put myself in any extreme danger to save them.
One, it's out of character for my predator. He's not selfless. And two, both humans and xenos are considered to be beneath predators, like deer or dogs to humans.

Re: Predators protecting the weak
Predators and humans have a long background of team ups meaning that perhaps they're more willing to help a marine if he proves himself worthy, even if his the Prey. For example, during a duel, the marine gets rushed by xenos, the predator would obviously aid the marine. Not because helping the weak but giving him the chance to keep fighting the predator, perhaps even patch his injuries and once he is ready, restart the fight

I, myself, don't protect either side, nor do I protect any individuals that I'm not concerned with. If a random Marine is being dragged off to the hive, I won't spare much thought for them. Slaves, if we have them, and duellists, I do protect, although the latter is only until the duel begins.

Aye, it depends of the Predator and maybe the circumstances, but a Predator who doesn't help nobody at all doesn't make him dishonorable or something

Re: Predators protecting the weak
I could easily see predator helping a Drone, Medic, Ground Surgeon or Scientist who is collecting xeno samples. They are obviously beneath hunting and serving duties for greater good of their kin. Doctors mending the hunters and scientists obviously collecting food and or trophies. (Silly humans... why would they not skin their own trophies?)

Re: Predators protecting the weak
As someone who has done this to himself one time during Whisky Outpost, it is quite easy really.YungCuz wrote:How do you buckshot yourself in the chest?
It is very easy to misclick when it comes to point blanks sometimes, which could lead to some very awkward situations where you end up tripping over yourself and blasting yourself. Quite a sad way to die, really...
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

Re: Predators protecting the weak
Predators kill the strong and leave the weak, they do not help anyone nor should they unless it's an actual war where they need allies

Re: Predators protecting the weak
Throwing an injured marine at the marines might be acceptable if they happen to be like, in your path. But mostly, the preds should leave the dead/wounded unless for specific reasons.
For example, I frequently remove the heads of those I hunt, and then throw the heads back at the marines to instill terror. But I rarely bring back wounded marines. There are EXCEPTIONS. For example, I came across a single marine fighting a Ravager once and it got wounded by the ravager, though it still killed the ravager, so I brought it back to the Marines for it's victory (as it earned my respect). But for the most part, you aren't "batman", you are a hunter. Wounded/the weak are not your concern.
Technically in lore, the Predators may "kill the weak" to strengthen the herd for future hunts, but those are normally not "honorable hunts" and not always bound to honor-code since it's not "hunting" and more "maintenance". Trophies are never taken, the meat is never used. Usually the carcass is just left there and not given any of the proper "trophy" honors.
